Built in 1855 and revamped to perfection by CWB Architects, this trophy condo in a restored church in prime Cobble Hill has everything. Situated on the picturesque corner of Strong Place and Degraw Street, this dramatic, loft-like home offers the autonomy, historic charm, private gardens, and space of a townhouse, all with the benefits of condo living. Enter through a private gated entrance located right next to your very own deeded parking space, or enjoy the convenience of a main entrance with Virtual Doorman, perfect for secure package delivery and guests. This magnificent home boasts 3 bedrooms (2 with ensuite bathrooms), 3 luxurious baths, a home office, a laundry room, walk-in closets, and two spacious private garden areas perfect for entertaining. Additional luxuries include central AC, custom millwork, designer lighting, hardwood floors, and a large storage unit and gym in the basement. The entire apartment is complemented by high ceilings, rich mahogany arched windows, and is flooded with light. Enter into a Great Room with soaring 12' ceilings, and three exposures (South, West and North). An exquisite chef's kitchen sits at the center of this grand home featuring a generous 12' island, plus two walls of floor-to-ceiling oak and stainless kitchen cabinetry. Luxurious honed Calacatta marble countertops and backsplash are an elegant backdrop to a suite of professional paneled appliances including a Sub-Zero fridge, vented Wolf oven and cooktop, Bosch dishwasher, and Marvel wine cooler. Conveniently open to a separate dining room suitable to hold a sit-down dinner party for at least twelve guests, with a large glass door that opens to one of the two private gardens. Adjacent to the dining room is a capacious living room which leads out to a second garden space perfect for a BBQ, large dining table, outdoor sofas and additional plantings. You will be surrounded by greenery on all sides, providing a homey view and offering loads of privacy away from street noise. A convenient split layout allows for a large Primary suite on one side with an additional home office, full bath with double sink, and not one but TWO oversized walk-in closets, creating a wonderful retreat. On the far side of the apartment is another unexpectedly large bedroom that also enjoys a full bath and a dressing room with a wall of built-ins. A third bedroom is perfectly situated for guests, a library, or media room. And don't miss the oversized entrance closet which doubles as a mud room, PLUS a third full bathroom off the common space that includes a laundry room with a side-by-side Bosch W/D and loads of floor-to-ceiling storage. Old World elegance meets modern luxury at every turn in all three bathrooms with a Primary bath awash in white Carrara marble; a guest bath expertly outfitted in Travertine; and the third bathroom a classic combo of white subway tiles and slate floors with a deep tub. The private garden entrance peacefully welcomes you home and also provides a convenient path for car loading (including kids and dogs!), plus the perfect space for morning coffee. The second garden area is even more tucked away, allowing for intimate gatherings and large parties with easy kitchen access. Both spaces have been landscaped with timeless bluestone pavers, perimeter planting beds complete with perennials, handsome Ipe fencing, and electricity. This boutique 20-unit building also offers a gym, full time Super, two elevators, and is pet-friendly. One block to PS 29, plus award-winning cafes and restaurants all within walking distance. There is literally no other home on the market with such scale, and magnificent designer renovation on the most beautiful block in all of brownstone Brooklyn. Live in this AIA Architectural Award-winning building by Baxt + Ingui Architects, one of the most prestigious homes in Brooklyn.

Cobble Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The neighborhood now known as Cobble Hill was originally settled by Dutch farmers in the mid-1600s. Tucked along the East River, in the heart of Brooklyn, Cobble Hill is known for its welcoming, leafy streets, independent mom-and-pop shops, and 19th century brownstones.

Most of Cobble Hill lies within an historic landmark district, and building heights are restricted to 50 feet, which helps maintain its 19th century atmosphere. Building owners will often split the use of their four- or five-story buildings, occupying several of the top floors and renting out the ground floor as apartments or, conversely, occupying one or more of the lower floors and renting out the top floors. New construction and alterations to existing buildings in the historic district require approval by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, which helps maintain the historic character of the Cobble Hill neighborhood.

Although most housing in Cobble Hill consists of traditional brownstones and brick townhouses,, you will also find churches that have been converted to condos, carriage houses that have become luxury apartments and Victorian school houses that have been converted into lofts.

Court Street and Atlantic Avenue are the main commercial streets in the neighborhood. You will find popular Middle Eastern restaurants on Atlantic Avenue. Court Street is home to casual restaurants, many with outdoor seating, relaxed cafes and hip bars.

Many young professionals and families live in the brownstones, townhouses, and single-family homes that line the leafy streets. Cobble Hill is a great place to live if you work on Wall Street, as you can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to work.
