Property Description for 258 Saint Nicholas Ave, 8-A

Step into the Dwyer's Loft 8A and experience a meticulous renovation that rivals Apple's attention to detail. This architectural masterpiece underwent a complete transformation, rebuilt from the studs up with no expense spared. The result is a stunning modern residence in South Harlem that stands out even among the homes on Billionaires Row. Designed with minimalist aesthetics and intuitive convenience, this 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom home boasts 5-inch rift-and-quarter-sawn solid oak floors, custom doors, wiring, plumbing, and high ceilings. The walls of windows facing south, west, and north flood the space with natural light, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere in this home that's anything but cookie-cutter. The open kitchen is a master class in form and function, with custom matte-glass cabinetry with steel-reinforced shelving, top of the line LG, Miele, and Samsung appliances, a quartz waterfall island, and Italian imported fixtures by Cea. Every detail was considered, and every corner was utilized to maximize storage and efficiency. The primary bedroom suite features two Elfa closets and a breathtaking en-suite bathroom, while the second bedroom boasts bespoke cabinetry that conceals almost 350 cubic feet of storage and a hidden cabinet for a 77-inch television and built-in bed that folds up to disappear. A true "smart home," 8A has the latest in technology built right in. A remote control not only opens the window shades but physically opens the windows as well. Speak to Google, Alexa, or Apple Home Kit to control your lights. The state-of-the-art bathrooms feature self-cleaning and regulating toilets and auto shut-off valves to prevent an overflow. Built-in 2008, The Dwyer is a modern condominium set within a former warehouse building, providing pin-drop quiet living and utter privacy in a special uptown enclave. Residents enjoy full-time doorman service, live-in superintendent, a bike room, and a massive roof terrace with a small catering kitchen and commanding views. Located just inches from renowned dining and nightlife venues, a grocery store across the street, premier shopping destinations, and multiple parks, the home offers effortless transportation with A/C, B/D and 1/2/3 trains, excellent bus service, and CitiBike stations within easy reach. With 11 more years left on the tax abatement and super-low monthly payments, The Dwyer's Loft 8A offers a genuinely unparalleled living experience in NYC.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
