Property Description for 465 Saint Johns Place

Straddling Prospect Heights and Crown Heights, this beautifully renovated, single-family home is the very definition of majestic.

A mere two blocks from Prospect Park, The Brooklyn Museum, and the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, the lot of 465 Saint John's Place clocks in at a rarefied 131-feet, and offers the ultimate in harmonious and modern living.

As you enter up the classic stoop, note how the facade has been restored and preserved to keep its original details. The parlor level is open and bright. A whitewashed brick wall and blonde hardwood floors give the interior a distinctive Scandinavian vibe. The living and dining area includes a sleek fireplace and flow directly into the open-plan kitchen. The chef's kitchen is styled with classic white cabinets and Caesarstone countertops, an ample island with a sink, and top-of-the-line appliances. A glass wall faces an ample balcony, perfect for entertaining, and allows light to pour in as you take in your leafy and spa-like (more on that lovely detail, later) backyard.

Head up the stairs to the top floor where three amply sized bedrooms welcome you after a long day. The spacious primary bedroom faces the back garden, giving you treetop views. There are abundant closets in addition to a classically appointed primary bathroom suite, featuring dual sinks, gorgeous tiling, and an enormous shower enclosure with rain shower head. The other two bedrooms are also well-proportioned and a second-skylighted-full-bathroom completes this treetop sanctuary.

The bottom two floors is where you can really let your creativity run free. The ground floor is open and features a fourth bedroom and lovely full-bathroom, as well as a washer and dryer. This level would be ideal as a guest suite, an ample home office, a family room-you name it.

The basement level is the last piece of this ideal lifestyle puzzle. Completely open and finished, make it your expansive home gym, recreation room, sound studio-it's all up to you. A door leads you out to your glorious outdoor retreat.

Now back to that spa-like backyardnot only is this area bucolic and expansive-perfect for flowerbeds, vegetables, herbs, featuring a gorgeous tree that will host songbirds throughout the seasons-but it also includes a hot tub and a roomy, dry sauna to complete that elusive, Scandinavian hygge everyone seeks. Why spend money on a spa day or a yoga retreat when you have it all right here at 465 St John's Place?

With upgraded everything and AC and heating split systems throughout, this home will leave you wanting for nothing. In the heart of two of Brooklyn's most beautiful and historical neighborhoods, with endless choices for restaurants, shopping, and even subways, why wait another minute to call this beauty "home"?

Prospect Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Prospect Heights is a small residential neighborhood surrounded by big attractions. It’s rich in culture and offers the perfect blend of old Brooklyn charm and modern-day hipness.

Residents of this tight-knit community include young professionals, families and long-time residents. It’s a walkers paradise - just steps from Prospect Park and a short walking distance to neighborhoods like Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Green and Clinton. You’re close to culture too. Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Barclays Center are all nearby.

Prospect Heights is bordered by Flatbush Avenue to the west, Washington Avenue to the east, Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street to the north and Eastern Parkway to the south.

Prospect Heights, like many areas of New York City, was first inhabited by indigenous tribes and eventually settled by the Dutch and turned into farmland.

A significant part of the Revolutionary War was fought in Prospect Heights and the surrounding areas. Known as the Battle of Brooklyn, it was the first military engagement following the Declaration of Independence. Things didn’t go so well for American forces so they retreated and the British occupied Manhattan for several years after the Battle of Brooklyn.

In 1867, the opening of Prospect Park caused major housing growth in Prospect Heights. The middle-class neighborhood was soon populated by Jewish, Italian, and Irish workers. Many of which were shop-owners or employed as laborers in nearby factories.

Housing in Prospect Heights includes single-family row houses, historic townhouses, co-ops, and new luxury condos. The median listed price for a 1-bedroom in Prospect Heights is $680,000 with an average price per square foot is $944.

The neighborhood's commercial artery runs along Vanderbilt Avenue and Washington Avenue. The variety of businesses adds to the charm of the neighborhood. They include bars, pubs, restaurants and mom-and-pop stores of all types. The shops and eateries are a perfect alternative to the big-name attractions that bracket the neighborhood. It's a little bit of everything in this neighborhood.

Subways are plentiful in Prospect Heights. Its proximity to Manhattan is another perk of the neighborhood. It's about a half-hour train ride. The B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 subway lines all serve the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center station. 2, 3, 4, B and Q trains cover the neighborhood and the A and C trains are nearby too.
