Property Description for 21 East 26th Street, 2

Enjoy the privilege of being one of only 4 exclusive owners to discreetly reside in New York City's most exclusive, celebrity-filled address at the renowned Whitman Mansion. Clad in high design overlooking Madison Square Park, this extremely rare full-floor residence spans the length of an entire city block and affords an unrivaled luxury lifestyle, quietly nestled in the heart of downtown Manhattan.

The exquisite prewar showplace is unlike any other, boasting 4 oversized-bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, and nearly 5,000 sq ft of custom-curated interiors renovated by award-winning Pembroke & Ives, a firm responsible for enriching high-end homes in NYC, the Hamptons and West Palm Beach. Light fills the refined interiors from oversized windows from 3 exposures. A very special highlight are the 2 children's rooms, where a graffiti artist free-formed the walls with Star Wars and Harry Potter images!

Richly appointed and outfitted for modern-day, this jewel is wrapped in the highest quality fit and finish with a light and airy Scandinavian feel. A sleek ArcLinea chef's kitchen featuring a huge breakfast-bar island, top-of-the-line Miele and Sub-Zero appliances, built-in wine fridge is met by a gracious open flow into the sun-drenched living and dining quarters. Here floor-to-ceiling windows look out to Madison Square, offering an unbelievable space to live, work, and entertain.

Follow the grand reception gallery marked by gorgeous wide-plank rift oak floors and you'll pass a handsome den that doubles as a kid's space with chalkboard wall. Nearby, a spacious office comes with a grey fume stone powder room with Toto toilet. At the heart, a dramatic elevator entrance is accentuated by a massive metal-and-glass pivot door, so substantial, it had to be brought in through the windows.

It is flanked by comfortable en-suite guest rooms, finally culminating into a private secluded north-end master retreat that's both generously proportioned and tranquil. The luxurious, sophisticated owner's suite boasts a jaw-dropping Calacatta Gold marble spa bath dripping in elegance with a lavish glass shower, deep soaking tub and separate vanity powder rooms with water closets, all adorned with polished nickel Dornbracht fixtures. A custom walk-in wardrobe accessing an adjacent laundry room with storage closet adds to the allure.

Additional highlights include a Sonnex AV system with in-ceiling speakers, city-quiet windows, and an expansive planting terrace bringing the outdoors in. Nothing compares to the enviable lifestyle and premier location of this one-of-a-kind Manhattan gem that is by far the most distinguished offering in NoMad.

The 1924-built New Georgian style building lives like a work of art, ideally situated on one of the most sought-after blocks in NYC. Amenities include a full-time doorman, private gym, refrigerated package room, and basement storage. Moments away are the F/M/R/W/6 subway lines, trendy restaurants, bars, cafes and shops, and all the attractions of Flatiron and Chelsea nearby.

NoMad | Manhattan

Quick Profile

NoMad, North of Madison Square Park, is a rectangular swath of land that is bordered by East 25th Street to the south, East 29th Street to the north, Sixth Avenue to the west, and depending who you ask, Madison or Lexington Avenue to the East. It’s had its acronymed name for over two decades but not every New Yorker calls the neighborhood NoMad.

Historic architecture, trendy hotels and restaurants and high-priced apartments - NoMad wasn’t always the coveted neighborhood that it is today. It’s gone through many transformations over the years. Including a red light district known as the Tenderloin in the 1880’s. It was a popular shopping destination and a place where high society held court in the mid 19th century. It was part of New York City’s Silicon Alley in the 1990’s.

As of lately, world class chefs and restaurants have moved into NoMad. It’s tied with Midtown Manhattan for having the most Michelin stars (six stars to date). Besides NoMad’s architecture, nightlife, and restaurants, we can’t forget the added perk of being close to other great neighborhoods and cultural institutions. NoMad’s central location makes it easier to get just about anywhere in the city. You can walk to Chelsea, West Village, Union Square or Grand Central Station in no time at all. The N, R, 1, 6, B, Q, F, and M are very close or just a few blocks away. Penn Station is also within walking distance.
