Inside this expansive, nearly 2,400-square-foot residence, you'll be swept away by oversized northern, western and southern windows, framing glorious sunlight and views that skim over Tribeca's historic rooftops. Beamed ceilings and designer lighting soar over wide-plank hardwood floors, exposed brick and handsome wallcoverings. The gracious foyer opens to a large dining room, art nook and wet bar, perfect for lavish gatherings. Ahead, the massive corner living room invites you to unwind alongside a fireplace, beautiful built-ins and sun-dappled scenery. Flanked by the dining room and living room, the open kitchen becomes the welcoming heart of the home, filled with sleek floor-to-ceiling cabinetry, stainless steel appliances and open-sky outlooks.

Head to the owner's suite to find bold columns and enough custom closet space to tame even the most extensive wardrobes. A large dressing room opens to an en suite spa bathroom with a large soaking tub/shower and wide double vanity surrounded by beautiful mosaic tile. A spacious secondary suite enjoys western views, a roomy closet and a private bath. The third bedroom features a large built-in desk and shelving, two roomy closets and easy access to the guest bathroom. Several additional closets and an in-unit washer-dryer complete the exquisite layout. Above, discover the home's crowning glory - the nearly 450-square-foot private roof deck featuring a grill, seating and wide-open views perfect for magnificent al fresco entertaining.

Built in 1910, 161 Hudson Street features a handsome buff brick and limestone fa ade with neo-Renaissance elements throughout. The building once housed dried fruit, machinery and paper businesses. Converted to residential condominium use in 2004, the pet-friendly elevator building offers part-time doorman service (weekdays 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., weekends 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.), storage and a common roof deck. A 1% flip tax is paid by the buyer.

From this Tribeca Historic District location at the corner of Hudson and Laight streets, you're surrounded by fantastic shopping, dining and nightlife, including Frenchette, Bubby's and Locanda Verde. Hudson Square's buzzy tech startups and advertising shops are nearby, and Hudson River Park offers near-endless waterfront outdoor space and recreation. Transportation from this coveted neighborhood is effortless with 1, A/C/E, J/Z, 6 and N/Q/R/W trains, excellent bus service and CitiBike stations all within easy reach.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
