Property Description for 518 East 11th Street, 4-A

The search is over! Welcome home to this beautifully laid out two bedroom apartment just three short flights up in a charming boutique Prewar building in the heart of the East Village. Blessed with Northern exposure overlooking the quiet and picturesque tree-lined East 11th Street, this apartment is both peaceful and bright, enjoying views of the nearby flowering pear trees and out to the Met Life and Empire State Buildings and beyond. The open windowed kitchen comes complete with a dishwasher, Wolff gas stove, and large refrigerator and the windowed bathroom has a combo shower/tub. The primary bedroom features two full walls of built ins, providing ample storage, or this area could all be opened up to add even more space and reclaim its original layout to host a king-sized bed and large closet, similar to the spacious second bedroom. Other hallmarks of this residence include original hardwood oak floors, through-wall A/C, high ceilings, oversized windows, and three closets. The rare true two bedroom for well under $1M, this home is just waiting for a new owner to add their special touch to this unique space to make it their own.

One block from Tompkins Square Park, this pet-friendly self-managed co-op features free washer/dryer use, with laundry found on each floor (and only shared with one other neighbor), recently renovated hallways, video intercom security, bike storage, and a garbage chute on the floor.. Subletting is allowed after one year of residency with board approval, but no parents buying for children. The L train (with its new elevator accessible entrance on Avenue A and 14th) and all the Union Square subways are close by, as are Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Target, and all this singular neighborhood's best restaurants, nightlife and boutiques, as well as the M-14A bus.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
