Property Description for 159 Tompkins Ave, PH-6B

Introducing Penthouse 6B at 159 Tompkins Avenue, a boutique elevator building consisting of 10 units, built in 2018, in the thriving Bed-Stuy neighborhood. This sun-drenched and generously sized two-bedroom, two-bathroom residence offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn skyline from two expansive outdoor spaces.

As you enter the home, the abundance of natural light from the oversized windows, facing east and south, and the 10-foot ceilings, create a bright and welcoming ambiance. The open kitchen, designed with a large peninsula for easy entertainment, features elegant grey wood cabinetry, complemented by Caesarstone countertops and a top-of-the-line stainless steel appliance package, including a 5-burner stove with exterior venting.

The spacious great room offers multiple layout options and showcases the stunning eastern and southern views. Step outside onto the first of two outdoor spaces, a sizable balcony. Continuing through the apartment, you will find a queen-sized second bedroom and a second bathroom with a soaking tub, leading towards the luxurious primary suite. The king-sized bedroom, featuring dual northern and eastern exposures, provides an idyllic retreat. The primary bathroom offers a double sink vanity and an oversized walk-in shower, featuring exquisite Nero Marquina-style porcelain.

Moving up the modern staircase, you will arrive at a windowed vestibule, perfect for a home office or exercise area. The 900+ square foot terrace, sharing the same footprint as the interior of the apartment, offers endless possibilities for creating outdoor living, dining, and relaxing areas while enjoying stunning southern, eastern, and northern views of the entire Manhattan skyline and downtown Brooklyn. Electrical and water access are readily available.

Additional features of the residence include 10-foot ceilings throughout, wide plank oak floors, Bosch washer/dryer, and dual-zone climate control. The building provides residents with a virtual doorman, package room, and bike storage. Situated in the heart of Bed-Stuy, residents are a short stroll away from Herbert Von King Park, numerous coffee shops, dining options, and convenient access to the G, J, M, and Z trains.

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
