Property Description for 31 Tiemann Place, 37

This charming prewar three bedroom (or two bedroom + home office) apartment features oversized windows in the main living spaces and a newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. The enormous living room windows offer an abundance of light from late morning on throughout the rest of the day. An open layout allows for a dedicated dining space as part of the main living area. Just off the living, French doors lead to what can be the third bedroom or a huge home office. The large galley kitchen has been completely updated featuring a stainless steel appliance package, farmhouse style sink, beautiful butcher block countertops and a quartz breakfast bar. Designer finishes outfit the bathroom including a large dual vanity with a quartz countertop to go with marble tiles on the floor and the bath/shower combination. The generously sized, incredibly quiet primary bedroom is facing the interior of the building and has a large walk-in closet. Another bedroom is located just off the foyer as you enter the apartment. 31 Tiemann Place is a very well-maintained prewar ELEVATOR cooperative built in 1926. The building features marble lobby, live-in super and renovated laundry room. Conveniently located with almost direct access to the 1 train at 125th street, you are surrounded by the wonderful restaurants Morningside Heights and the Columbia University neighborhoods have to offer. You are one block from Riverside Park and a few blocks from Morningside Park.

Morningside Heights | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Due to the large number of institutes of higher learning that are housed within its borders, most notably Columbia University, Morningside Heights has a very definite college-town vibe. It has been dubbed the “Academic Acropolis,” both for the large number of schools and for the fact that the neighborhood is built high atop the Manhattan schist bluffs that are the geological bedrock of NYC. From this vantage point, which is the highest point of land in all of Manhattan, you can take in stunning views of upper Manhattan and the Hudson River. Sunsets are especially breathtaking from Riverside Park.

Walk through Morningside Heights and you’ll see a diverse population, especially when the schools are in session. It has a generally quiet atmosphere, bounded by large green spaces, dotted with small cafes, specialty stores, and restaurants that offer all manner of international cuisine. There is a modest nightlife consisting of intimate bars and small musical venues, many of which are open to the wee hours of the morning, and frequented by students.

Housing is primarily pre-war buildings that have larger apartments and beautiful architecture clustered around Broadway. You can find affordable walk-ups in low-rise buildings on the side streets. Many of the residential buildings in the area actually are owned by Columbia University.
