Property Description for 518 East 11th Street, 1-B

This beautifully laid out studio is on the first (but not ground) floor of a charming boutique Prewar building in the heart of the East Village! Blessed with northern and western exposures, this sunny and quiet home overlooks a tranquil tree-lined street. Other hallmarks of this apartment include oak hardwood floors, very high ceilings, oversized windows, and a large closet. The windowed bathroom has a combination shower/tub, and the windowed galley kitchen fits in nicely with the dining, sleeping, and sitting areas, plus home office space. And then there is a massive private closet just down the hall that conveys with the apartment.

One block from Tompkins Square Park, this pet-friendly self-managed co-op features free washer/dryer use, with laundry found on each floor (and only shared with one other neighbor), recently renovated hallways, video intercom security, bike storage, and a garbage chute on the floor.. Subletting is allowed after one year of residency with board approval, but no parents buying for children. The L train (with its new elevator accessible entrance on Avenue A and 14th) and all the Union Square subways are close by, as are Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Target, and all this singular neighborhood's best restaurants, nightlife and boutiques, as well as the M-14A bus.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
