Property Description for 675 Lafayette Ave, 1

Introducing 675 Lafayette Ave #1, a stunning duplex condo nestled in the heart of the historic Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood in Brooklyn. Located next door to New York City’s only living landmark, a rare Magnolia grandiflora from circa 1885, this bright, thoughtfully designed, mint-condition two-bedroom, two full bathroom home with private yard and windowed recreation room features an open-concept, south-facing living/dining area, exposed brick, wide-plank white oak floors, stepped ceilings, recessed lighting, zoned-controlled heating and air conditioning, an in-unit washer/dryer, crown and baseboard moldings and clever built-ins throughout. The open kitchen with top-of-the-line stainless steel appliances by Bosch and Fisher Paykel make preparing gourmet meals and entertaining guests a treat. With plenty of custom cabinetry built full to the ceiling, open shelving, and quartz countertops with an overhang for bar stools, as well as a decorative tile backsplash and under-mount sink, this kitchen is sure to delight both budding chefs and experienced culinary artists alike. The quiet, rear-facing and generously sized bedrooms on the upper level offer ample closet space and plenty of room for furniture. The hall bath is exceptionally large with a stacked washer/dryer, tub and oversized vanity. The spacious primary suite with both north and west exposure boasts an en-suite bath with a walk-in shower. Both bathrooms are finished with stylish fixtures, porcelain wall and floor tile and recessed medicine cabinets. Heading to the lower level through the custom-built architectural stairs, you’ll find a large, versatile space that works well as a home office, gym, playroom, or added living area. Additional storage is cleverly hidden under the steps and a separate entrance allows for access to the street through the building’s lobby. The private yard is the perfect complement to this impressive home with mature perennials planted along the walkway of bluestone pavers and a wooden fence for maximum privacy. Located directly across the street from Herbert Von King Park, this exceptional home benefits from being adjacent to this lively green space with a storied history. Originally called Tompkins Park designed by Olmsted and Vaux of Central Park and Prospect Park fame, Von King is one of Brooklyn’s oldest parks. It features a Cultural Arts Center, fitness equipment, two dog runs, two playgrounds, summer movie screenings and a baseball field. Additional neighborhood hotspots include the Hattie Carthan Community Garden, the Kosciuszko Pool, Little Roy, Samurai Papa, and Sally’s. Commuting in and around Brooklyn and Manhattan is easy with the G train and multiple bus lines nearby. The self-managed, intimate four-unit condo has low common charges and real estate taxes.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
