47 Herkimer Street

Available September 1; Please reach out for an appointment, even during Open House events.

Classic charm meets modern luxury in a rare property offering a beautifully renovated owner's triplex with generous outdoor space plus a fully finished basement, on a quiet leafy block at the crossroads of Clinton Hill, Crown Heights and Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Up the inviting front stoop, the triplex's finely designed parlor floor affords a perfect setting for gracious entertaining. The open airy layout maximizes natural light and flow, and is enhanced by high ceilings, wide-plank walnut floors, walls of exposed brick, and tasteful moldings and millwork. The expansive living room features oversized windows and an ornate marble mantle, while the open dining area accommodates a large scale table.

Prepare meals in the sun-filled chef's dream kitchen, impeccably appointed with custom cabinetry from floor to ceiling, sleek stone countertops, a center island with seating, premium appliances by Wolf, Sub-Zero and Miele, and don't forget the discreet half-bath. Glass doors lead to a private terrace overlooking the rear garden where you can sip morning coffee and evening cocktails. Stairs from the terrace descend to the paved and planted backyard featuring lots of space to relax, dine alfresco, and let the kids and pets play.

One floor up, the tranquil primary bedroom is a quiet retreat that faces the backyard, with another decorative fireplace, double closet, and stunning en-suite marble spa bath. The second bedroom on this level also has ample closet space and an en-suite bath with luxury features. Plus there's a washer-dryer in the hall. On the top story, bathed in light by large skylights, you'll find another en-suite bedroom, and a versatile open area that can serve as an office, playroom or additional sleeping area.

The finished basement has direct garden access and a window. With high ceilings, a full bath and storage closets, it extends the living space as a rec or media room. Other highlights of this very special home include radiant heated floors in all baths, a multi-zone HVAC system, and video intercom system.

Best of all is the vibrant location with every service and convenience just minutes away: three grocery store options, Blink Fitness, all the trendy eateries like Harts on Franklin, Golda coffee shop, Bad Luck Bar on Nostrand Ave, and countless indie boutiques. On the block, the A/C/E express subway stop is a quick ride; to Fulton Street in 10 minutes and to Soho in 15.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
