Property Description for 85 Leonard Street, PH

Welcome to the epitome of Manhattan luxury and a very unique opportunity – a 3,320sf 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath duplex Penthouse with panoramic views and nearly 2,400sf of outdoor space across two incredible terraces - providing over 5,700sf of indoor and outdoor super chic living in the heart of Tribeca... with extremely low monthlies! The interior of this sprawling Penthouse features four spacious bedrooms, a home office, and three and a half bathrooms. Three exposures (north, south and west) of oversized windows and an epic skylight above the stunning staircase flood the home with natural light. Entering through the private key-locked elevator, you are immediately welcomed by an open chef’s kitchen equipped with state of the art stainless steel appliances, frosted glass cabinetry, and a sprawling Carrera marble island (including a wine cooler, obviously). As eat-in kitchens go, this is a total gem, with a custom banquette for casual dining. The south-facing great room is impressive and welcoming. Measuring approximately 31' x 23' with 10' ceilings, a fireplace, and beautiful arched windows overlooking Leonard Street, it is an entertainer's delight. Down the hall towards the north-facing end of the home, you’ll find the primary bedroom suite and the second of four bedrooms. A true retreat, the primary suite features a spacious walk-in closet and a luxurious spa-like 5-fixture bathroom. The second bedroom also offers ample closet space and has its own ensuite bathroom. A powder room, full-size laundry room, and den are also all on this level. A remarkable staircase with an overhead skylight leads you to the upper floor of the duplex, which has two bedrooms, one of which acts as a second primary bedroom, private penthouse suite, or large media room for entertaining and relaxing - with an ensuite 5-fixture bath. There is also a fourth bedroom for the added flexibility of a guest room or office. The best part? A wall of folding glass doors facing north and west can create indoor/outdoor living space and leads to an incredible planted terrace (one of two!). Two levels of private outdoor space allow you to enjoy the Manhattan skyline from the comfort of your own home. A wraparound 1000sf+ terrace surrounds the upper floor (with storage, planters, you name it). But wait there's more... go up the stairs and you'll find an additional 1300sf+ roof deck with open city skyline views, a putting green, and the ultimate entertaining space. Privacy is also a key feature of this home. With only four other homes in the building, you'll enjoy a sense of tranquility that's hard to find in New York City. The very special home also includes a spacious 326sf private storage unit/bonus room in the basement. Located in one of the most prized neighborhoods of Manhattan, 85 Leonard is the only remaining building in New York City attributed to James Bogardus, inventor of cast-iron buildings. The building was designated a New York City landmark in 1974 and added to the National Register of Historic Places. A few blocks in any direction you’ll find City Hall, the Hudson River piers, Soho shopping, and phenomenal dining, with convenient access to all subway lines. There is also a private parking garage across from the building. Come experience this spectacular penthouse for yourself. You will want to call this "home."

Tribeca | Manhattan

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
