Property Description for 1090 Carroll Street, 2-R

Looking for a stylish one bedroom condo with private outdoor space and parking? You'll find it on this tree-lined Crown Heights block, behind the brownstone facade of this boutique condominium conversion. The investor friendly building offers low fees and bicycle storage. Up one flight of stairs, you enter the apartment where large windows bathe the hardwood floors in sunshine during the daylight hours from three exposures. Ceilings checking in at just under ten feet give an expansive feel throughout. The living room melds seamlessly with a large and well-designed kitchen featuring stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher. The bedroom is complemented by two closets and an ensuite bath with sumptuously deep soaking tub. A powder room and in-unit washer-dryer just off the entry complete the efficient and functional interior layout. Heating and air conditioning are centrally controlled at your thermostat. As lovely as the inside of this home is, the versatile outdoor spaces are the true highlight. Just off the bedroom is an amply sized balcony that begs for a hammock or your outdoor home office. Stairs lead from the balcony to the terrace level of this private outdoor oasis. Measuring nearly 700 square feet, the versatile space is illuminated by solar-powered sconces and features a mural by celebrated illustrator Renee Rober. A portion of the space can be used for parking up to two full-sized cars accessible via shared private lane when you aren't hosting elegant Brooklyn soirées. Located in Crown Heights, the apartment offers fast and easy access to The Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, The Brooklyn Museum, and Prospect Park. The Franklin Avenue corridor offers some of the city's most loved dining and entertainment options. Manhattan is a short commute away via 2, 3, 4, and 5 express trains found just a few blocks away. Showings by appointment.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
