Property Description for 412 Putnam Ave, 4

Offering a spectacular 2-bedroom, 1-bath apartment for rent in an owner-occupied residence in the heart of Bed-Stuy. Recently revamped, this apartment now showcases exposed beams in the living room, beautifully restored decorative fireplaces, and transom windows that allow additional light to filter in from the hallway skylight. The bathroom boasts a charming claw foot tub and marble flooring, while the original oak flooring graces the living areas and bedrooms. The primary bedroom includes a spacious closet, providing ample storage. The second bedroom is versatile, perfect as an office or spare bedroom (without a closet). The kitchen has received updates such as a new refrigerator, kitchen faucet, and cabinetry. Unfortunately, a dishwasher and washer-dryer are not included amenities. Access to the roof and backyard is also unavailable. Kindly be aware that the lease period spans for only one year, starting between September 1 and 15, 2023. Owners anticipate the need for additional space, hence the inability to commit to longer lease agreements.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
