Property Description for 100 Jay Street, 30-A

Dazzling northwestern views of the East River and lower Manhattan greet you upon entering this extremely bright and sunny 2 br, 2.5 bath condominium, with views from every spot! Floor to ceiling windows, 10 foot ceilings, an open kitchen, large living room, separate dining area, split bedrooms and washer/dryer combine to make this a terrific place to call home. Enter to a foyer, with a walk-in closet and guest bath, that leads to the attractive custom built-in desk area, anchored by tall bookshelves, an ideal spot for books and decorative objects. The well-appointed open kitchen has glass, aluminum and quarter-sawn oak cabinets, a generously sized granite breakfast bar with seating for 4, Viking range & dishwasher, and a Sub-Zero refrigerator. The expansive living room, with its mesmerizing views, is adjacent to the large dining area, (which some A-lines have converted to a proper 3rd bedroom) creating a loft-like space. The primary bedroom has angled corner windows providing incredible north western and eastern views encompassing a huge swath of the Manhattan skyline. The back wall is lined with outfitted closets and there is a huge dressing closet and en-suite marble bath with dual sinks, oversized glass shower and a deep soaking tub. The southwestern facing second bedroom has a wall of closets and the 2nd bath is across the hall, along with a substantial laundry closet with a Bosch washer & dryer, and additional storage. Between the boat activity on the East River and the dazzling lights of the city, the view from this beautiful condo is always captivating. The J Condominium is one of Dumbo’s most sought after buildings, featuring an extensive range of amenities such as 24-hour doorman, state-of-the-art fitness center, media room, playroom, and 2 rooftop decks. A storage unit in the building trades with the apartment. The building is ideally located near Brooklyn Bridge Park, great shopping and top-tier dining. Transportation is convenient with the F, A and C subway lines nearby.

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
