Property Description for 225 East 57th Street, 20-E

South-facing and high above the city noise, with banks of windows drawing in glowing all-day light, and an exceptionally generous layout: 20E is an oversized 1BR in the Harridge House, a full-service co-op with ample amenities and the rare benefit of all utilities (heat, hot water, gas, electric, and A/C) included in maintenance. The living and dining room, with its three large windows, is spacious enough for dining, living, and home office, and plays beautifully in numerous formats (both the video and photos highlight these – no virtual staging was done in this unit, just reconfiguring the real furniture multiple ways to aid imagination). The dreamy king-size bedroom is nearly doubled by a large dressing room area that could also be utilized for home office (wonderfully lit by yet another south-facing window, this one offering a peek of the landscaping of the terrace above). The kitchen is a galley-plus with Bertazzoni stove, a deep and tall Liebherr fridge, dishwasher, and a roomy stainless steel sink. And the generous, squared entry foyer adds to the space and to the possibilities, with plentiful separate space for landing dock, coat storage, shelves, or even an additional closet. Freshly painted, beautifully kept, and bathed in remarkable light and quiet, with higher ceilings because of the high floor – 20E is a truly special home. Centrally located off the 4/5/6 trains and all the transport of the 57th St corridor, catty-corner to the Whole Foods, with a Trader Joe’s incoming and multiple gyms in a five block radius, easy access to Central Park and the Roosevelt Island tramway (pictured from the roof deck): Harridge House is a 24-hour doorman co-op with a live-in super, two new laundry rooms, bike storage, package room, roof deck and on-site garage with direct building access. Pied-a-terres and co-purchases are welcome. PET POLICY: Cats are allowed and only service and ESA dogs allowed with additional ESA application - please reach out for more information.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
