Property Description for 46 White Street, 2

Showings by appointment only. Set in the historic Woods Mercantile Building (built in 1865) and with a width spanning 36' across, this recently gut-renovated, classic 3BR Tribeca loft condo at 46 White Street Unit 2 effortlessly balances 19th century architectural roots with an understated modern aesthetic. A keyed elevator entry leads you into the apartment's enormous, light-filled living area. Generously proportioned, it has soaring ceilings, oak hardwood floors, a 36-foot expanse and massive windows facing south, bringing in incredible sunlight all day long. The apartment's cast iron columns and exposed brick walls blend seamlessly with modern touches: stainless steel countertops and sleek white kitchen cabinetry, cleverly hidden closets and gorgeous custom built-ins including a large credenza with ceiling height shelves and library ladder. The kitchen has a BlueStar range, Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer, Gaggenau oven, Bosch dishwasher and wine refrigerator. An elegant cluster of Flos Lighting cone pendants punctuate the dining table. The open living area is ideal for entertaining and includes a projector and screen discreetly embedded in the ceiling, lowering with the touch of a button. Stylish glass and steel doors open to reveal the beautifully appointed home office with handcrafted floor-to-ceiling cabinetry accented with subtly-toned metal mesh. At the far end of the apartment are the three bedrooms. Step up two small stairs and enter the large, elevated primary bedroom, spacious and quiet. The dual ensuite Boffi closets feature black lacquered doors silently gliding open. The ensuite bathroom has a separate shower with Boffi fixtures, Drummonds claw-footed bathtub and expansive carved marble vanity with slip drain sink. There is also a laundry room with full-sized washer/dryer. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms are high-ceilinged and have lovely natural light filtering in. The second bathroom has Ann Sacks tile and Kallista water fixtures. This home has both HVAC and radiator heat, electric solar and blackout shades and an additional walk-in closet that can easily be converted into a half bath. A Lutron system controls the lighting and shades. There is also an enormous (200+sf) deeded storage room in the basement. Located in the Woods Mercantile building, 46 White Street Unit 2 is in a boutique condo building, one of six apartments. Located between Church and Broadway, this home is perfectly positioned, close to everything Tribeca has to offer while ideally located on a peaceful, picturesque block.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
