This is a tremendous opportunity to purchase a unique, over-sized, turn-key, two-bedroom, two-bath that has 1,334 square feet of interior space, as well as two balconies offering an additional 120 square feet of private outdoor space with breathtaking, unobstructed views at the premier 50 West. Situated on one of the best blocks in Central Harlem, this one-of-a-kind penthouse is move-in ready. Please note that many of the photos are virtually staged. In these photos, we have lightened the floors and taken them back to their original condition.

Its thoughtful elegance is well designed and every inch of this apartment is designed for maximum storage space. This includes, but is not limited to, six (6) custom closets and a custom kitchen pantry and also offers a custom built-in bar, full-size in-unit W/D, central heat and A/C (included in the common charges) and eat-in-kitchen. Every room has custom Hunter Douglas window treatments, designer lighting fixtures and custom carpets. As you move north, you are drawn by a full wall of windows open sky views and just to the left is a large, windowed, eat-in-kitchen and open living room connect to the outdoor terrace seamlessly, creating an indoor-outdoor living space that is rare in the city. The kitchen include considerable counter space, beautiful counters, custom cabinets, Fisher Paykal Armoire refrigerator, Viking Gas stove, Bosch dishwasher, under mount lighting and custom tile backsplash.

The master bedroom is complete with built-in clothes armoire, multiple exposures, custom closets, built in nightstands with designer light fixtures and custom, vertical, black out shades by Hunter Douglas. The spa-like, master bath ensuite features a Carrara marble throughout, a Restoration Hardware armoire, custom cabinetry, Toto toilet, a deep soaking tub and large walk in shower with rain shower head.

The second bedroom has a built-in floor to ceiling shoe closet, two (2) custom closets for clothing/storage, and built-in armoire from Restoration Hardware. The second bath is equally appealing with custom cabinetry, Toto toilet, a large walk-in shower, Carrara marble throughout and a custom sitting banquette.

50 West is a modern, boutique condo building with limestone facade, located on a beautiful block in Central Harlem. It has a virtual doorman, a package room, a fitness center, a full-time super, a beautiful lobby, bike storage and private storage (waiting list) and two roof top gardens with spectacular views of the city. All is arguably located in the most happening part of Harlem, near the best restaurants on Lenox (Red Rooster, Sylvia's, Cheri, Chez Lucienne, Ginny's Supper Club, Sushi Inoue, & more) and close to Whole Foods, a few blocks from the 2/3 subway and not far from the 4/5/6/A/B/C/D subway lines, the 125th Harlem-Hudson Line train station, Marcus Garvey Park, and all that Harlem has to offer. With a world of entertaining and dining options, a vibrant art scene and a vast historical richness, Central Harlem is filled with the best of old and contemporary New York City. There is a 25-year tax abatement in place that ends in 2032. Pets are allowed.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
