Property Description for 20 Plaza Street East, C-9

Elegant and serene, this well-maintained and spacious 2BR/1.5BA corner unit is filled with natural sunlight and effortlessly blends traditional pre-war details with modern conveniences and style. Located on the 3rd floor of one of the most sought after Art Deco elevator/doorman buildings on the cusp of Prospect Heights and Park Slope, the ample pre-war proportions of this beautiful home provide a comfortable and flexible layout that intuitively lends itself to entertaining and ease of daily living. A gracious foyer (currently used as a study) leads the way to an expansive and inviting living and dining room. Three sets of corner windows throughout offer multiple exposures. The thoughtfully designed chef's kitchen is outfitted with Frigidaire professional stainless steel appliances, including a dishwasher and built-in microwave, Coline cabinetry, a tasteful glass backsplash, and crisp Corian countertops with a built-in breakfast bar. A hallway leads to the king-size corner bedroom. The windowed full bathroom is a spa-like retreat, featuring striking marble hex floor tiles, tasteful white subway wall tiles, custom shelving, a handheld shower in addition to a regular shower, and a marble vanity. The second corner bedroom is at the opposite end of the hallway next to the renovated windowed half bath, which has design elements to compliment the full bath. The airy unit is graced with refinished inlaid parquet and hardwood floors, moldings, high ceilings, huge closets, and designer touches that include contemporary recessed lighting on dimmers and modern hardware. The premier pet-friendly building features a professionally landscaped circular courtyard and a grand lobby with full-time concierge services. Residents enjoy a renovated laundry room available 24/7 with an extensive lending library, a children's play room/lounge, personal storage cages, bike storage, and a fantastic live-in super who has served the building since 2003. Across the street from the 2/3 at Grand Army Plaza and merely blocks to the B/Q at 7th Avenue, surrounded by an array of restaurants, cafes, boutiques, grocery stores (including the new Union Market), Fitness Centers (such as Crunch and SoulCycle), and services, the location is ideal. A short walk brings you to Prospect Park, the main branch of the Brooklyn Public Library, the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens, the Brooklyn Museum, and the weekend Greenmarket. Parking and Zipcars are available in the nearby Richard Meier building. This is a truly exceptional place to call home.

Prospect Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Prospect Heights is a small residential neighborhood surrounded by big attractions. It’s rich in culture and offers the perfect blend of old Brooklyn charm and modern-day hipness.

Residents of this tight-knit community include young professionals, families and long-time residents. It’s a walkers paradise - just steps from Prospect Park and a short walking distance to neighborhoods like Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Green and Clinton. You’re close to culture too. Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Barclays Center are all nearby.

Prospect Heights is bordered by Flatbush Avenue to the west, Washington Avenue to the east, Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street to the north and Eastern Parkway to the south.

Prospect Heights, like many areas of New York City, was first inhabited by indigenous tribes and eventually settled by the Dutch and turned into farmland.

A significant part of the Revolutionary War was fought in Prospect Heights and the surrounding areas. Known as the Battle of Brooklyn, it was the first military engagement following the Declaration of Independence. Things didn’t go so well for American forces so they retreated and the British occupied Manhattan for several years after the Battle of Brooklyn.

In 1867, the opening of Prospect Park caused major housing growth in Prospect Heights. The middle-class neighborhood was soon populated by Jewish, Italian, and Irish workers. Many of which were shop-owners or employed as laborers in nearby factories.

Housing in Prospect Heights includes single-family row houses, historic townhouses, co-ops, and new luxury condos. The median listed price for a 1-bedroom in Prospect Heights is $680,000 with an average price per square foot is $944.

The neighborhood's commercial artery runs along Vanderbilt Avenue and Washington Avenue. The variety of businesses adds to the charm of the neighborhood. They include bars, pubs, restaurants and mom-and-pop stores of all types. The shops and eateries are a perfect alternative to the big-name attractions that bracket the neighborhood. It's a little bit of everything in this neighborhood.

Subways are plentiful in Prospect Heights. Its proximity to Manhattan is another perk of the neighborhood. It's about a half-hour train ride. The B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 subway lines all serve the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center station. 2, 3, 4, B and Q trains cover the neighborhood and the A and C trains are nearby too.
