Property Description for 43 Halsey Street, 1

Unit 1 is a generous 2+BR/2.5BA duplex condo on the garden level of a beautiful, landmarked brownstone in BedStuy. Upon entrance, southern-facing windows illuminate a spacious living/dining area, which is tastefully accented with 150-year-old exposed brick. The modern, open kitchen features plenty of storage, soft-closing cabinetry, and a collection of stainless-steel appliances - including a Bertazzoni range and oven. The queen-sized bedrooms at the rear of this level are quiet and overlook the landscaped backyard. The two full bathrooms - of which one is an en-suite - are outfitted with luxurious Italian fixtures and tiles, as well as radiant heat flooring. If that wasn't enough, one flight down leads to a large, multi-use recreation room equipped with a powder room, washer/dryer, access to additional storage, egress to your own private outdoor oasis. The home is fully outfitted with split systems for air conditioning & heat.

Located in the Bedford Stuyvesant Historic District, 43 Halsey Street was erected in the early 1900s and converted to a boutique condominium in 2018. The building is comprised of just four residential units and has incredibly low common charges and taxes. Pets and rentals are permitted, making for a wise investment opportunity.

While 43 Halsey sits on a tranquil, landmarked block, the neighborhood comes alive a short distance away on Fulton St, Bedford Ave, and Nostrand Ave. Enjoy artwork and caffeine at Seed, shop local fashion at Moshood, or eat your heart out at Bunny Turkish, Seven American Restaurant, BTS Korean Market, or Hendrix House Caribbean. The historic district that this building is located in preserves some of Brooklyn's most distinctive and well-preserved brownstones of the late 19th-century. Touring the neighborhood, you will find homes in the traditional form of Italianate, Neo-Grec, Queene Anne, and Romanesque Revival. Couple this storied history with the vibrant melting pot that is the neighborhood today, and you'll understand why BedStuy is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in New York. Downtown Manhattan is under 20 minutes away, via the express A train just two blocks south. The LIRR is an additional two blocks further south and offers access to Long Island all the way to sandy Montauk.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
