Property Description for 434 East 52nd Street, 3-A

Cozy ski chalet meets organic luxe' best describes the unexpected magic of Apartment 3A.

This studio apartment, located on a coveted Beekman cul-de-sac, is an experience in interior design excellence. Featuring a charming prewar backdrop (cue the brick clad woodburning fireplace) and exquisite finishes; a small but mighty space that really offers it all!

Welcomed into a gracious foyer, you will be instantly transported to the countryside by the custom grass cloth mural by Osborn & Little and stunning French antique fixture. The main living room captivates with a calming Cowtan & Tout sage green grass cloth, a Spanish Revival fixture dating back to the early 1900s, custom millwork, generous closet, and custom furnishings. The windowed kitchen offers handmade cabinetry, Bertazzoni 4-burner gas range, Subzero fridge and freezer drawer, Bosch dishwasher and a stunning Bella Figura handblown crystal fixture. The windowed bathroom is finished in a stunning porcelain Italian marble and handmade English tiles, glass-door shower with niche for accessories, Ralph Lauren sconces and the adjacent linen closet adds convenience and storage. De Chateau French Oak floors, Newport Brass fittings and crystal doorknobs throughout. Both the kitchen and bathroom sink are custom from Stone Forest. Newly installed PTAC operated via a Habitat Wireless Thermostat System. Offered furnished.

The Southgate, developed by Bing & Bing and architect Emery Roth, is a prewar coop with full-time doorman, lush landscaped gardens, central laundry room and onsite property management. Pied-a-terres, up to 80% financing and pets are permitted with board approval. Electricity is included in maintenance.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
