Property Description for 252 Seventh Ave, 5-C

Welcome to The Chelsea Mercantile, one of New York City's finest pre-war full-service downtown condominiums. This remarkable 1,010 Square foot true 1 bedroom convertible 2-bedroom loft has nearly 11-foot ceilings, oak hardwood flooring throughout, central heat and A/C, and expansive 8-foot tilt-turn windows facing south onto a private, quiet courtyard. Spacious and sunny, this unique mint home distinguishes itself with its large, outfitted closets, a renovated open kitchen with a six-foot black granite island, stainless steel appliances, garbage disposal, and bountiful cherry wood cabinets. The ultra-large bedroom easily accommodates a California king, and still roomy enough for a home office or lounging area. A Jack-n-Jill bath offers privacy to the master bedroom and includes an upgraded sink and vanity. The Chelsea Mercantile offers outstanding amenities including a full gym for residents only, large private storage, valet and concierge service, 24-hour doorman, live-in super, garage, laundry on each floor in addition to a massive central laundry room, a playroom, and a gorgeous landscaped 10,000 SF roof deck boasting striking city views. All this and still the common charges and real estate taxes are some of the best in the city. A private locked storage closet is included with the sale. Pets are also welcome. With Whole Foods Market located right downstairs, shopping and entertainment only steps away, and a short walk from the fabulous High Line, numerous art galleries, and Chelsea Piers, you are truly in the heart of it all! There is an assessment of $583 per month from July 2023 thru June 2025. This assessment is for upgrading the roof deck and elevators.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
