One of the many great features is incredible views of The Statue of Liberty and the East River! As you step into this designer home, you'll be immediately drawn to the expansive living, dining, and kitchen space, with its preserved 11 ft+ vaulted ceilings from the building's original manufacturing facility. With an abundance of natural light and incredible lighting throughout the day, you'll enjoy a tranquil living experience that is unmatched. Wait until you see the sunset - the apartment glows!

The sleeping quarters comfortably accommodates a king-sized bed with additional furniture. The current owners built out a picturesque, custom home office in the hallway leading to the living/dining area, utilizing every ounce of space to its utmost capacity. A custom glass door separates the kitchen from the home office and sleeping quarters, creating a genuine balance of privacy throughout the home.

The kitchen has been updated with modern cabinetry, creating two sizable pantries, and is equipped with elegant stainless-steel appliances, including a Viking cooktop, Sub-Zero refrigerator, Thermador stove, Bosch dishwasher, and Marvel wine cooler. And with pin-drop Citi Quiet windows, you'll enjoy a peaceful living experience.

Closet space is not an issue here, with a generous walk-in closet with custom built-ins, a double-breasted closet in the sleeping quarters, and additional built-out storage as you enter the apartment. The primary bathroom features a double vanity sink, a whirlpool tub, and standing shower, all updated with modern tiles. There is a half bath and an in-unit washer and dryer, adding to the ultimate conveniences of luxury living.

You would have the opportunity to purchase a nearly 600 square foot outdoor oasis! Your very own sanctuary in the heart of the city. You will be surrounded by top-quality trees and plants, including two Japanese maples that they will include in the sale of the cabana.

70 Washington Street is a 13-story, pre-war building that was converted into a luxury condominium in 2005 by Jed and David Walentas's Two Trees. Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
