Property Description for 1079 Hancock Street, B

Welcome to Unit B, a 2-3 bedroom 1 bathroom apartment that sits on the entire garden floor of a two family home, offering a perfect blend of modern finishes and serenity in Bushwick. As you step inside, you are greeted by a long entry foyer with a coat closet to throw off your jacket and kick off your boots. There is also plenty of space for a table to drop your keys and mail. This leads you into the open kitchen and dining area featuring a large breakfast bar and stainless steel appliances, creating an inviting space for culinary enthusiasts. The kitchen also has a dishwasher, microwave with circulating fan, double door refrigerator with ice and water dispenser, and a washer/dryer in unit in the hallway. The living area faces east bringing in a warm stream of light throughout the morning into the dining/kitchen area through the french doors. This residence provides ample space for several configurations to fit your lifestyle - a 3rd bedroom, home office, guest room, or additional living area. Other important information to note: Tenant pays for gas and electricity. Each room has a split unit for ac and heat and the building has solar, so electricity is significantly lower most of the times especially summer. Sorry, no pets allowed. No backyard use, just egress in case of an emergency. There is also a one month broker fee.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
