Property Description for 2 Tudor City Place, 9-HS

This massive (approximately 1,600+/- square foot) gem at full-service 2 Tudor City Place in Murray Hill offers voluminous living space and an outdoor terrace with city and Empire State Building views. The generously-proportioned 2 bedroom 2 bathroom residence lives more like a home than an apartment, and thanks to its incredible space and versatility, is easily convertible to a 3 bedroom layout if desired. Plus you have plenty of room for an office, nursery, workout area, etc., which is rare to find in NYC.

Oversized southern windows and windows on western exposure invite in abundant natural light throughout the day. High ceilings, beautiful oak wood floors, crown moldings and recessed lighting further enhance the ambience. Enter via a very large entry foyer that spills into an expansive sun-filled living room, adjoined by an open dining area. Host gatherings in style and comfort, and prepare meals in the well-appointed kitchen featuring floor-to-ceiling wood cabinetry and stainless steel appliances.

The huge primary bedroom suite with dual-exposure windows can accommodate a king-size bed, additional furniture and a sitting area. It also presents a capacious walk-in closet, big second closet, south-facing terrace (17'6" x 3'10"), and a modern windowed bath with a glass-enclosed shower and built-ins. A second bedroom with its own enormous walk-in closet enjoys western light and is closely positioned to the full hall bath with a tub/shower. 9HS is simply amazing, and comes with through-wall air conditioning for keeping cool in summer.

Built in 1954 and converted to a cooperative in 1981, 2 Tudor City is a well-maintained, full-service luxury building in Midtown with a 24-hour doorman, live-in super, onsite laundry facility, lovely courtyard garden, and parking garage with discounted pricing. Residents can access a gym, bike room and storage across the street at 5 Tudor City, all available for a fee. Electricity is included in your monthly maintenance. The excellent address next to the verdant Tudor City Greens Parks is close to the United Nations, shopping, restaurants, Grand Central Station and other conveniences. Pets, pied-a-terres, guarantors, and parents buying for children are allowed.

Tudor City | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Compared to other New York City neighborhoods Tudor City is a bit different. For starters, it's not very big. And technically it's not a neighborhood, it's more along the lines of a residential enclave of Tudor style buildings and parks. Even with the large neon sign boldly exclaiming the enclave's name, Tudor CIty is still a little tricky to find.

Located on the southern edge of Turtle Bay, Tudor City borders Murray Hill and lies on a low cliff which is just east of Second Avenue between 40th and 43rd Street. It overlooks the grounds of the United Nations along First Avenue and the East River beyond.

Tudor City is considered one of the world’s first skyscraper apartment complexes. This was considered a remarkable feat in 1929. Early marketing material, aimed at the middle class, described the development as well-planned, well-built, and well-priced housing. Developer Fred F. Finch designed Tudor City to keep middle class residents in Manhattan as many were fleeing the city for the suburbs.
