Property Description for 34-24 82nd Street, 1-J

Turnkey living awaits in this expansive two-bedroom, one-bathroom charmer offering a wonderful layout, a huge primary bedroom and excellent storage space in a historic Jackson Heights co-op. Inside this spacious and bright home, tall ceilings rise above large windows, elegant archways, and beautiful tile and hardwood flooring. Enjoy a fantastic flow for living and entertaining, beginning with a large foyer flanked by convenient closets. Ahead, the living/dining room stretches nearly 30 feet long to west-facing windows, providing a generous footprint for sitting, dining and home office areas. The renovated, windowed eat-in kitchen impresses with rows of white cabinetry trimmed with quartz counters and gleaming subway tile backsplashes. The newer stainless steel appliances include a gas range with double ovens, a dishwasher and a built-in microwave, and the corner breakfast nook is the perfect spot for morning coffee. Bedrooms are tucked in a separate wing for optimal peace and privacy. Enjoy an extra-large primary bedroom with two large closets and double exposures. The secondary bedroom offers a roomy closet of its own, while a separate linen closet in the hall ensures storage will never be a concern. A windowed bathroom with a large tub/rain shower, vessel sink vanity and floor-to-ceiling tile completes this move-in ready retreat. Built in 1937, The Allendale is one of the later additions to the Jackson Heights Historic District, but no less impressive thanks to its neo-Georgian design and handsome brickwork. Residents of the well-maintained cooperative enjoy live-in superintendent service, laundry, storage, a bike room and a lush courtyard garden with seating. The roof, facade masonry and elevators have all been recently updated. Pets and 80% financing are permitted with board approval. Sorry, no subletting. There is an ongoing monthly assessment of $12.14. There is a flip tax of $5 per share. From this lovely tree-lined block, you’re just steps from the 26-block-long 34th Avenue Open Street, including a permanent pedestrian plaza and wide bike lanes. You'll enjoy easy access to renovated Travers Park's playground, sports courts and year-round greenmarket. The public library is just a block away, and outstanding shopping, dining and nightlife venues fill the neighborhood, including a range of international cuisine to satisfy every culinary whim. Nearby 7, E, R and F/M trains and excellent bus service put the rest of the city within easy reach.

Jackson Heights | Queens

Quick Profile

Jackson Heights has one of the most diverse populations in the city, and over 100 languages are spoken here. With this cultural diversity comes supporting restaurants, bars, shops and cultural opportunities. It is a mix of commercial and residential properties. There is a wide range of shops and service businesses, so that anything you would need, from a barber, to a pharmacy, to clothing, and food is available right in the neighborhood, no matter which culture or language you might need these services provided in.

Jackson Heights has three nicknames, based on micro-neighborhoods with the neighborhood as a whole. Little India occupies an area on 74th Street, while parts of 73rd Street are known as Little Pakistan. Little Columbia is along 37th Avenue.

A large portion of Jackson Heights has been designated as an historic district, from Roosevelt Avenue to Northern Boulevard, between the east side of 76th Street to the west side of 88th Street.

Jackson Heights was a planned community, where the first “garden apartments” were created in buildings constructed around central gardens and green spaces that gave neighbors a place to meet and socialize with one another, created places for children to play, allowing light to come into the apartments and air to flow freely through them. These gardens are private and only residents have access to them. Passing by the buildings, you might not even guess the gardens were there, as they are not generally visible from the street.

Additionally, there are some mid-rise apartment buildings. Some of these are rentals, some are co-ops, and some are condos. There are a few attached row houses that provide housing for one to three families.

As much as Jackson Heights might be full of noise and mix of cultures, it also has a quieter side, where the various cultures mix and mingle and learn about each other against a backdrop of beautiful architecture and a culinary landscape that brings the world to Queens.
