Property Description for 250 Mercer Street, PH-D1202

JUST LISTED! A rare offering of an oversized, sundrenched just-renovated penthouse with soaring ceilings of over 11 feet in a coveted doorman building at the crossroads of Greenwich Village and NoHo.

Perched high up on the building's top southeast corner, Penthouse D1202 at 250 Mercer Street offers a massive living room, newly renovated kitchen and bathroom, huge corner primary bedroom as well as a sizable second-level loft with a spacious enclosed flex room, an open landing and raised ceilings that is perfect for use as a home office and welcoming space for guests.

At the heart of this home is a glorious South-facing living room over 18 feet deep. Sunlight pours in through a pair of double-hung picture windows stretching from nearly floor to ceiling, complemented by a row of transoms along the top of the eastern wall. There is a beautiful built-in customized bar, and in the corner of the living room a staircase leading you to the second-level loft has been stripped down to the steel, beautifully contrasting with the newly refinished warm grey hardwood floors to create both a sense of lightness and chic rustic charm.

The renovated kitchen is fully outfitted with custom cabinetry, modern grey slate countertops, floors and tiled backsplash with a stunning suite of high-end stainless steel appliances including a Subzero refrigerator/freezer with icemaker and double freezer drawer, a Miele oven, a Miele 4-burner gas range with a hood that vents to the exterior and a Miele dishwasher.

The sprawling primary bedroom wraps the top corner of the building, showcasing gorgeous open views of downtown New York City to both the South and the East. At approximately 20 feet wide, there is plenty of space for a king-sized bed plus a separate lounging or seating area, and an entire wall of cedar closets accommodates even the most extensive of wardrobes.

Ideally located between the bedroom and the living room, there is a newly renovated bathroom finished with floor-to-ceiling in deep grey slate tiles and a luxurious deep soaking tub. Additional features of this home are a full-sized in-unit Bosch washer and dryer, extensive closet and storage space throughout as well as recessed lighting in every room.

Also known as Mercer Square, 250 Mercer Street is beautifully maintained full-service co-operative with a live-in resident manager, a full-time doorman, a furnished common roof deck and central courtyard as well as bicycle storage. Residents are just moments away from Washington Square Park and some of downtown New York City's most fabulous shopping, dining and entertainment experiences throughout Greenwich Village, NoHo and SoHo. With the 6, N, R, W, B, D, F and M trains no more than 5 minutes away, this location knows no equal. Sorry, no pets for subtenants.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
