Property Description for 290 Windsor Place

Presenting 290 Windsor Place in the heart of Windsor Terrace.

First open house: Saturday June 1, 11:30am - 1:00pm

290 WINDSOR PLACE is a two family townhouse brimming with original details dating back to 1910.This home has been in the same family for generations, has been incredibly well cared for and carries much of that history throughout the floorplan. From the tomatoes grown in the backyard to the wine made and stored in the cool dry basement, the next chapter is yours to write.

As you enter up the prominent stoop to the parlor level, you will find a treasure trove of historic design elements including the original grand entrance with mosaic floor tile still in place. Step across the homes threshold to a beautiful mirrored hall tree and wood staircase leading to the top floor. Upstairs is a complete apartment with skylight.Pocket doors lead to the parlor and oversized windows allow for an abundance of natural light. The Garden level entrance is street level under the stoop. There is no shortage of carved wood moldings, built in cabinetry and beautifully well-maintained tin ceilings throughout. Access to the basement is just off the garden level foyer. A gorgeous fireplace remains in the sitting room where wood framed bay windows and a leaded glass cabinet still stand.

Historically 290 Windsor Place was built and used as a 2 family home with three levels of living, including an income producing apartment and large basement. The layout has the opportunity to remain a 2 family or be used as a single family. Certainly with 7 bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms it is a great home for many.

Location: 290 Windsor place is located at the coveted intersection of Windsor place, Terrace Place and Prospect Park South West and just a 1/2 block to Prospect Park. The best of Windsor terrace is in your reach with favorites such as Vanderbilt Playground, Daytime for coffee and bites, Yoga Sole, The Lonesome club for dinner, and close enough for access to everything 8th Avenue offers. Transportation is a breeze with the F&G trains and ample street parking is a dream in Windsor Terrace!

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
