Property Description for 244 East 5th Street, 1

Application accepted. No more showings. Unique loft-like 1-bed + 1-bath parlor floor apartment in a townhouse with a private South facing terrace located on a desirable tree lined block in the East Village. As soon as you step into this apartment you are taken away by its special atmosphere with original details such as the two back marble decorative fireplaces and high ceilings, the warm light wooden floor throughout and the unique kitchen with wall to ceiling windows opening on your private deck where you can barbecue, sunbath or just relax. The black iron spiral staircase is leading nowhere and stands like a sculpture in the living room. The large titled chef's kitchen makes cooking simply fantastic with the light and sun coming in all day, a gas stove, gas oven, dishwasher, large refrigerator, freezer and so many cabinets. In the kitchen, there is plenty of room to install a table for 6 people and you can enjoy the changing landscape of your terrace while you eat. The living room is spacious and graceful and is definitively a great place to live your life at the fullest. If you work from home, there is plenty of room to install a desk. AC split unit is installed in the living room and is cooling down the entire apartment. Pocket doors are separating the living room from the bedroom that is facing the quiet street and comes with a complete wall of white ikea closets and another black marble decorative fireplace adding more texture to this unique place. The green slate tiled bathroom comes with a shower and a large sink. Last but not least, you get your own washer and dryer in the basement (2 flights down). Cats are fine and dogs are welcome on a case by case basis. Heat is included in the rent but tenants pay for electric, gas and cable. This apartment is available at the beginning of July and won't last. Deal requirements: first month rent + 1-month security deposit + broker’s fee. Please email me if you have any further questions.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
