Property Description for 343 East 30th Street, 9-C

Enjoy views overlooking the treetops in this high-floor, fully renovated two-bedroom, two-bath apartment within the iconic I.M. Pei-designed Kips Bay Towers Condominium. This exceptional unit features oversized north-facing windows that provide panoramic views of the private 3.5-acre garden below.

Enter the property through a spacious foyer, which draws you into the dining room and expansive living and entertaining space. The massive living room is twenty-five feet deep and offers sixteen feet of north-facing windows. The modern kitchen is ideal for entertaining, with an oversized GE Profile range, refrigerator, microwave, and Kitchen-Aid dishwasher. All the cabinetry has been custom-designed for a perfect fit, maximizing storage. Unique to C-line, the primary kitchen wall could be removed to create an open-plan kitchen if desired, opening the apartment even further. (see virtual renovation).

The generously proportioned bedrooms all include California Closet systems. The guest room offers two large closets and an integrated dual desk and shelving system ideal for a work-at-home situation and additional storage. The primary bedroom features an ensuite bathroom, three large closets, and two smaller pantries.

The apartment is completely move-in ready, with two fully renovated modern bathrooms, updated parquet floors, and freshly painted walls.

Kips Bay Towers is a full-service luxury condominium building offering a 24-hour doorman, on-site laundry, a fully equipped gym, and a newly renovated lobby. The private garden is adorned with over forty trees, manicured lawns, and firefly-filled flower beds that rival Gramercy Park. A full-size outdoor basketball/pickleball court and children’s playground are also equipped with slides and swings.

The entire property is currently undergoing Local Law 11 exterior work, with scaffolding surrounding it. Work on the 343 side of the South Tower has been completed, and the scaffolding is expected to be removed shortly, pending DOB approval.

The property encompasses three city blocks and is convenient to Fairway, Trader Joe’s, and the AMC Kips Bay movie theater. Great restaurants and shops abound. Accessible transportation options include the six train, M15, M15-SBS, and M34 buses, the recently upgraded NYC Ferry to Queens, Brooklyn, and Wall Street, the SeaStreak port, and multiple Citibike stations dot the neighborhood.

Kips Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

If you take a walk through Kips Bay, which is loosely defined as the area between 23rd street and 34th street and the East River to almost Lexington, you’ll quickly learn it's a hodgepodge of sorts and not as well defined as other neighborhoods in New York City. Some New Yorkers say Kips Bay has an identity crisis because 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues are distinctly different from one another as you traverse them. Despite the perceived lack of neighborhood vibe there are others that appreciate its affordability and convenience.

First Avenue is dominated by hospitals and hospital buildings such as NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital to name a few. Second Avenue is a mosaic of convenience stores, fast food joints and nondescript brick buildings. Third Avenue is saturated with small bars and gastropubs and the twenty somethings that patronize them.

No judgement against Kips Bay here. It’s a great neighborhood that is just as much a part of New York City as any other neighborhood. Kips Bay It’s bordered by Murray Hill to the North, Stuyvesant Town and Gramercy Park to the South, and Rose Hill to the West. The neighborhood is partly defined by newer high-rise apartments, brick rowhouses, and former tenement buildings.
