Property Description for 249.5 East 13th Street, G

Welcome to the Sculptor’s House, 249 1/2 East 13th Street. This is a once-in-a lifetime opportunity: to rent a complete house in the heart of the East Village! This dreamy, rose-bedecked, one bedroom, one-and-a-half-bath house is located between 3rd and 2nd Avenues and has been completely renovated. Every inch of the house was touched during the renovation process. It is the perfect marriage of pre-war charm and history, with contemporary finishes: a real treasure! The building was constructed in 1891 for the famous architectural sculptors Karl Bitter and Giuseppe Moretti, who used it as their studio. On the ground level you will find the bedroom, with south facing windows and California Closets. The bedroom is large enough to have a dresser and desk. Off of the bedroom there is a large windowed primary bathroom with double vanity, washer/dryer, shower and bathtub with glass enclosure. There is ample storage space on both levels of the house. Upstairs you are greeted by high-ceilings, oversized north and south-facing windows, exposed brick and 1890’s stained glass. The kitchen has waterfall quartz countertops, custom cabinetry, dishwasher, induction stove, microwave oven, large double door refrigerator and a convenient half bathroom. You will find brand new hardwood floors throughout, Mitsubishi split system for heating and cooling, as well as radiator heat. There is ample storage space on both levels of the house, including a large closed-in crawl space under the stairs and two unexpected overhead spaces. *Please note no utilities are included in the rent. This location is conveniently just two blocks away from Unions Square Station (N,Q,R,W,4,5,6,L) and the green and lush Stuyvesant Square. Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Westside Market, and the Union Square Farmers Market are all within 3 blocks.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
