Property Description for 455 East 51st Street, 6-C

??A SURPRISING RIVER VIEW…

FACING A SECRET GARDEN...

ON A SECRET CUL-DE-SAC…

JUST BEYOND A SECRET GATE...

RENOVATED, RE-INVENTED, REMARKABLE 2BR (into 1BR) w/WORKING FIREPLACE & OPEN DESIGNER KITCHEN

Supremely situated in the famously private and well served Beekman Terrace (a handsome 1924 building coveted for its discreet riverfront location off of a quiet cul-de-sac), this river-view, garden facing, Southern sun-splashed stunner is a fantastic find. Its designer renovation is both smart and stylish, and the beautiful result shines brightly.

Originally a well-scaled 2-bedroom residence, this handsome, South-facing, L-shaped residence has been re-invented and re-envisioned as an enormous 1-bedroom home (please see alternate floor plan) with sprawling, open-concept living and dining rooms, and with new everything: new plumbing, new electric, new kitchen, upgraded bath, new closets, new layout, new floors, and an entirely new vibe.

In the Great Room, there is an architecturally designed, wood-burning fireplace aside the open-flow dining area, and a duo of twin, oversized, sunshiny windows showcasing this home’s signature river views — and offering an overlook to its treasured building’s coveted garden. With an immense run of nearly 38 feet, this dramatic and comfortable living space is ideal for entertaining and stretching out, working from home, and for all of life's growing needs.

The open dining bar gives this feel-good home an attractive second dining option, allows the bright light of two West-facing windows to spill into the lofted Great Room, and handsomely showcases the designer kitchen.

Smartly planned and beautifully appointed, the cook’s kitchen has ample stone-capped counters and custom cabinetry, and is chef-ready with top-shelf appliances by Smeg, Bosch, and Subzero.

The primary bedroom is peaceful and bright, with two big South-facing windows with river, sky, and garden views — and generous designer closets. The sizable windowed bath is classically appointed, and offers a separate step-in shower and a soaking tub.

A welcoming foyer, high ceilings, custom-milled built-ins, new Oak floors, and copious outfitted closets round out this mindfully designed, smartly executed home — making this big beauty a stand-out for all the best reasons.

Pristinely positioned along Beekman Terrace's prized Southern side — with a front row seat to the nautical beauty of the East River, and bird’s eye views of the enchanting "secret garden" just beyond the building's private gate house — this easy-to-love home enjoys private storage, and easy access to the pet-friendly building's river-view roof deck and the well-run building's fitness and laundry rooms. Within a stone's throw are the East River Promenade, the E/F/M trains, and prime access to every area cultural, dining, and shopping destination -- not to mention the benefits of a very mindful neighborhood association and private security.

Here is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan: Your secret sunshiny, river-view stunner...facing a secret garden...on a secret cul-de-sac...just beyond a secret gate...awaits.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
