Property Description for 543 76th Street, 1

Welcome home to this charming, expansive apartment on the first floor of the most picturesque detached house in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. The apartment has everything: two large bedrooms, one of which could be used as a living space, a huge windowed kitchen, beautifully refinished hardwood floors, fresh paint, and bountiful storage, lovingly wrapped by more windows than one can count. All of that is topped off by one of the most beautiful porches imaginable overlooking a gorgeous front yard, and there is a back stairway that makes the abundant backyard available as well. The kitchen has a farmer's sink, cabinet and counter space galore, as well as a vented stove. The master bedroom is large enough to house not only the biggest bed and furniture imaginable but a home office as well. The other bedroom is as large as any you will find in any new condo. The living space that separates them could be adapted into a formal dining room if only one bedroom is needed. Concerned about transportation to Manhattan? The subway is two blocks away with a connection to express trains in just two stops, making the center of Manhattan accessible in 30 minutes. Right around the corner stretches 5th Avenue, full of every necessary amenity (hello Jean Danet Pastry Shop and Dunkin Donuts), and the neighborhood has another great stretch of shops and restaurants along 3rd Avenue. A short hike takes one to the Ferry, which may be the best way to travel in all of NYC. Head in the other direction and enjoy McKinley Park, home to Readings in the Park, a free performing arts series for youth, and Arts in the Park, a free reading series for kids, or wind your way to Owl's Head Park to enjoy greenery plus a view of the bay. This apartment is truly a home within a home, just waiting for you.

Bay Ridge | Brooklyn

Lush front yards and trimmed hedges are pretty common in Bay Ridge.

Quick Profile

Bay Ridge is an old-world neighborhood neatly tucked into the southwest corner of Brooklyn within the shadows of the Verrazano Bridge. The neighborhood is encircled by the Belt Parkway along the shore line and the Gowanus Expressway inland.

Bay Ridge, long known for its generational pull, has historically been home to a diverse number of ethnic groups. While the area is flush with people of Irish, Italian and Greek descent, these ethnic communities have been joined by larger numbers of new groups, including people with Russian, Polish, Asian and Middle Eastern backgrounds. The Arab American community today in Bay Ridge represents the largest concentration of Arab Americans in New York City.

For many years, Bay Ridge and its waterside location, would attract the affluent. But most of the mansions that once lined Shore Road are long gone and have been replaced by six-story apartment buildings.

Aside from the low-rise apartment buildings, the neighborhood pretty much consists of one and two-family homes. Lush front yards and trimmed hedges are pretty common here.

Current zoning and limitations on building heights restrict any out of the norm development. At present, the future beholds small development on some of the commercial strips and teardowns of older homes for smaller residential projects.
