This mint condition apartment can easily be transformed into a one-bedroom apartment with the simplest addition of a wall, or enjoy as-is, a loft-like space with soaring 10' ceilings, great storage, a designer kitchen and bath, and central AC. 100 Jay is a rare 24-hour doorman building with all the trimmings!

Built in 2006 by the esteemed Hudson Company with timeless interiors by Andres Escobar, it includes 33 floors of studio to 3-bedrooms units, with 4J being one of the most coveted and unique units in the entire building! An incredible 400 SF terrace off the living room overlooks the Manhattan Bridge and the stunning historical architecture for which this neighborhood has become so beloved. Enjoy a magical outdoor life with a terrace large enough for the intrepid gardener, or someone that just loves to throw a party or enjoy the great outdoors in the city. This terrace will become the extension of your everyday life, and is larger than most penthouse units have throughout the city. Large enough for multiple seating and dining areas, bring your creativity and be prepared to have some fun!

Then head back inside where every luxury awaits. Great closets, a designer kitchen and bathroom, central heating and cooling, Brazilian hardwood floors, oversized triple-glazed soundproof windows, and of course, your very own washer and dryer. The kitchen design and size far exceed any studio apartment you have ever seen, and include stainless steel appliances, custom designer wood and glass cabinetry, black granite countertops, deep sink, great pantry space, and a large fridge with lower freezer and icemaker. The large bathroom is wonderfully appointed with Carrara marble walls and countertops, custom wood vanity, Grohe fixtures, and limestone floors and tub surround. Leave as-is and enjoy wide open and airy, OR take advantage of this convenient and spacious layout and add one wall to create a true one bedroom with enough space for separate dining, living and sleeping. This home makes a fantastic full-time home, pied-a-terre, or long-term investment, in a neighborhood increasing in value everyday due to its close proximity to Brooklyn Bridge Park, award-winning restaurants, Lifetime fitness (across the street), and situated on the same block as the F train, just one subway stop to Manhattan. No matter which way you turn the possibilities are endless.

Building amenities include a large parking garage with spaces always available for rent either daily or monthly with interior access to the building; an incredible fitness center and yoga room that rivals any of the paid gyms nearby; roofdeck garden and terrace; bike room; and of course, a 24-hour attended lobby perfect for package delivery and security. The ground floor retail space offers endless conveniences for all residents and includes Chase Bank, an artisanal wine and spirit shop, a local apothecary, and designer boutiques, galleries and eateries in every direction. Go for a run or walk your dog in the neighboring Brooklyn Bridge Park with its spectacular skyline and Manhattan views. No matter which way you turn, unit 4J is the opportunity of a lifetime. Lower taxes and common charges than all of the nearby newer buildings, and wonderfully maintained to ensure that you can move right in without spending a dime, and enjoy all the world-class amenities of this small town community super close to the big city.

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
