Property Description for 80 John Street, 8-F

Welcome to 80 John Street, a desirable art-deco condominium located in the heart of the Financial District. This modern 2-bed / 2-bath home offers a perfect blend of comfort and convenience, ideal for professionals or anyone seeking an upscale urban lifestyle.

This loft-like home (10'8 ceiling height) is both spacious and versatile and features hand scraped hardwood bamboo floors throughout. The open planned chef kitchen features new top of the line stainless steel appliances (Sub-Zero refrigerator and new Bosch 800 dishwasher), hand painted kitchen cabinets, and a breakfast bar, the perfect place to start the day.

The generously proportioned master bedroom has room enough for additional furniture and the ceiling has been lifted outside of the ensuite bathroom creating an open and airy feeling. For added privacy, automated Hunter Douglas blackout shades (app operated) have been installed. The secondary bedroom is queen-sized and is the perfect place for guests and/or a home office.

The master bathroom has been fully renovated with top end finishes: white marble, heated towel rack, rain head shower system, a wall mounted vanity and toilet, and a pocket door. The second full-bath equipped with a tub is conveniently located next to the secondary bedroom.

There is tons of custom storage, most notably floor-to-ceiling California closets in the master bedroom and foyer, adjacent to the kitchen. The lighting throughout has been upgraded in the form of up lighting, sconces, bar lighting, and dimmers, ensuring the mood always feels right.

80 John Street is a popular art-deco style building built in 1927 and converted to the South Star Condominium in 2006. The dedicated long-time staff include a resident superintendent, a 24-hour attended lobby with concierge services, and enough support to ensure the community is impeccably well-maintained. Conveniently, there is laundry located on each floor.

The Financial District is a revitalized neighborhood bustling with beloved bars, cafes, and restaurants, with the destination spots of South Street Seaport, Tin Building and The Oculus a short stroll away. For groceries look no further than the Jubliee Marketplace right across the street or Whole Foods on One Wall Street. Nearby are a myriad of transport options: the new Fulton Transit Center (2,3,4,5,A,C,J,R,Z subways), World Trade Center (PATH), and the Wall Street Pier 11 Ferry Terminal servicing Brooklyn, Queens, New Jersey and uptown Manhattan.

This home can be offered fully-furnished or unfurnished. Pets will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Financial District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Financial District (FiDi) today is a bit of a hybrid neighborhood, as the residential component continues to grow in an area that has been historically dominated by the financial and insurance industries. The residential experiment, which began more than two decades ago, continues to evolve in an area with a large concentration of older, large office buildings. Developers have taken to these aged buildings and have re-positioned them as residential properties. In turn, the public spaces, services and retail establishments needed for a thriving residential neighborhood have followed making this an important destination for city residents.

Since 2000, the residential population of the Financial District has nearly tripled in size from about 23,000 residents to more than 60,000 inhabitants. Many of the residential pioneers to FiDi were people attracted to the lower rents in the neighborhood, particularly the post-collegiate crowd. While the millennials still maintain a large footprint here, there are plenty of families that now consider the Wall Street area home.

Many of those that live in the Financial District walk to work. If you reside here and need to commute elsewhere, the transportation from here is about as good as it gets. Express trains can take you to Midtown, either east or west, in twenty minutes. Brooklyn is but a single subway stop away. There are also ferries across to Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
