Property Description for 200 Mercer Street, 1-I

Dramatic NoHo Triplex Maisonette

Replete with double height ceilings (as high as 25 feet) and authentic loft features, this excellent condition home offers the possibility of as many as four (4) sleeping chambers and three (3) bathrooms.

Accessed through the building's courtyard entrance on Mercer Street or directly via Broadway, this residence presents captivatingly high ceiling heights and substantial volume of space, throughout its approximately 3,300 square feet. Nowhere does this occur more impressively than the first-floor entertaining and dining level, complete with top-of-the-line kitchen appliances and an open, generous room that offers significant wall space for multiple works of art.

Ascending the sculptural staircase from this level provides access to a private mezzanine, currently utilized as office space, but so easily could work as a media area, library or den. The bathroom on the first floor completes this spectacular level that not only provides functionality, but does so within the bones of a quintessential New York City loft.

Descending from the first floor's grand living room, down a second dramatic staircase, leads to a substantive media room, as well as the primary sleeping quarters. The primary suite has a spa-quality bath in superb condition, and exceptional walk-in-closet closet. The floor completed by a second full bathroom.

The lowest level has over 10 feet ceilings and currently configured as two sleeping chambers and a den that could easily offer a fourth sleeping area. All connected by a large recreation room, the abundance of space is in itself, a true New York City luxury.

Original brick detailing and solid wood floors throughout pay respect to the authentic structure built in the 1850's, and as one of the oldest surviving manufacturing buildings remaining in the neighborhood, the uniqueness of this home is one matched by its integrity. Additional features such as central air, a washer/dryer on the bedroom level and massive amounts of storage, ensure despite the history, no modern convenience is lacking.

Proximate to multiple subway lines and central to SoHo's luxury shopping, gourmet groceries like Whole Foods, and a plethora of excellent restaurants like Il Buco, Bond Street Sushi and Sadelle's, this hub of Greenwich Village and NoHo could not be anymore prime for those looking for great Downtown living.

The home also comes with access to Washington Square Village Key Park.

Enjoy the privacy and elegance of townhouse living with the security and hassle-free maintenance of an established and superbly run co-op.

We look forward to confirming your new home viewing.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
