Property Description for 227 East 57th Street, 15-B

Welcome to 227 East 57th Street apartment 15B.

At approximately 800 sq ft, it is one of the most desired layouts in the building and a great value for an apartment of this caliber in a pre-war Art Deco building such as this. Once inside the lobby, you feel as if you were stepping inside a glamorous hotel lobby. The hallways are also designed in a way that gives you that boutique feeling.

As you enter the apartment, the foyer leads you to an open and expansive south-facing living room which happens to be flooded with natural sunlight from the large southern windows. The foyer has a huge closet which can also act as an office. The spacious living room provides an opportunity for both living and dining and is just perfect for entertaining or just relaxing.

The windowed kitchen has beautiful white cabinetry, some with glass paned doors, gorgeous granite counters, excellent storage, and stainless steel appliances, including a Bosch dishwasher and stove. There is a cozy coffee counter right by the window to perch on a stool and look over the city. The renovated windowed bathroom has Carrera marble and a mosaic tiled floor, Carrera subway tile walls and a glass enclosed tub/shower. The kitchen and bathroom have open northern exposures.

227 East 57th is a lovely intimate and full service 1930's building. It's facade and renovated lobby and hallways have lovely deco influences. Centrally located in the heart of Midtown East, across the street from Whole Foods, and very close to the City's best shopping, restaurants and transportation.

Building amenities include: Full-time doorman, live-in super, laundry in the building (and permitted in unit), pet-friendly and liberal sublet policy (unlimited after 1 year). Pied-a-terres, guarantors and co-purchasing permitted with board approval.

Midtown East | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Midtown West and Midtown East have a lot in common. They’re bustling, iconic, and full of people. But just like siblings, their personalities can be vastly different. Midtown East is a bit more sophisticated and doesn’t quite have the vivacity and unruliness that its westerly counterpart exudes.

Midtown East is bordered by 42nd to the south, 59th Street to the north, 5th Avenue to the west, and 3rd Avenue to the east.

The neighborhood is famous for its high-end stores, tourist attractions, posh hotels (budget ones too), and iconic architecture. Midtown East is also one of the largest financial and business hubs in Manhattan. During normal business hours the sidewalks are full of commuters and people moving from point A to point B. In the early evening, when the masses have left for the day, things suddenly get a little quieter and the sidewalks have a lot less foot traffic.

Although largely a commercial neighborhood, residential areas of Midtown East do exist on the eastern section of the neighborhood.

Grand Central Station is located in Midtown East and like Midtown West, it’s an extremely commutable neighborhood. The 4, 5, 6, 7 and S trains whisk people in and out of the neighborhood 24 hours a day. Grand Central Station also serves as a hub for New York State and Connecticut commuter rails. These trains can take you anywhere along the Hudson River or up into Connecticut. It’s perfect for day tripping.
