Property Description for 130 West 12th Street, 2-B

Located in the heart of Greenwich Village Historical District, this impeccably maintained three-bedroom apartment is available in the sought-after One Thirty West 12th Street condominium building.

Upon entry, you're greeted by the foyer and a wide gallery that elegantly separates the public and private areas of the home, with a walk-in coat closet and a conveniently located powder room. To the left, the expansive living and dining room designed by AD100 designer Virginia Tupker is an ideal space for both entertaining and intimate dinners. Natural light pours into the living room through oversized Art Deco casement windows, highlighting the lacquered ceilings and the stunning chevron-patterned oak floors. The entire home features beautiful views of the Brownstones and the mature trees that adorn West 12th Street.

Off the living room, the separate windowed eat-in kitchen has just completed a redesign and full gut-renovation by British cabinet maker, Plain English Design. Tastefully appointed, the kitchen offers ample storage and prep space on beautiful calacatta macchia-vecchia marble countertops, as well as high-end appliances; a Bertazzoni range, Miele refrigerator and dishwasher and a Sub-Zero wine refrigerator. Every detail has been thoughtfully designed for everyday living, centered around an island and complete with windowed built-in banquette breakfast nook.

Down the hall, the generous primary bedroom suite includes one walk-in and one double closet outfitted with California Closets custom built-in storage. The en-suite bathroom offers south-facing garden views, radiant floors, a double vanity set in luxurious white marble, Waterworks tile and Lefroy Brooks fixtures. Adjacent to the primary suite are the sizeable second and third bedrooms which come with ample custom California Closet built-in closet space and a shared full bathroom. Off the bedrooms is a laundry area, which includes a washer/dryer and linen closet. The apartment has Nanz Hardware in polished nickel throughout.

This highly coveted B-line unit offers numerous upgrades, including custom built fireplace, built-in speakers, Forbes & Lomax light switches, hidden television in the living room, and bedroom window treatments with automated blackout shades.

Converted to condominiums in 2012, 130 West 12th Street is a prewar, boutique building as part of the Greenwich Lane complex. Building amenities include a full-time doorman, live-in super, elevator, windowed gym, private storage lockers (included with the sale), and a roof deck offering sweeping 360-degree views of Manhattan. Residents also have full access to the extensive Greenwich Lane Fitness and Wellness Center, including a gym, pilates room, yoga studio, 25 meter swimming pool, hot tub and a beautifully appointed locker room with steam room.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
