Property Description for 142 Woodbine Street

Enjoy an entire Bushwick townhouse for the price of a condo! This mint-condition brick charmer has been renovated from top-to bottom, and offers a suite of high-end amenities, cool design, incredibly high ceilings, and is flooded with light all day long. Enjoy your very own home in Brooklyn's "hippest" neighborhood, surrounded by parks, cafes, and ample subway lines in every direction including the L, M, J and Z lines. Walk to Irving Square or Maria Hernandez Park, or frequent any of the abundant and popular dining establishments nearby including Xoco-Latte, Saint Michel Cafe , Caffeine Underground, Bushwick Bakery and L'imprimerie, to name just a few.

Consisting of three floors of living space; a parlor floor with an enclosed front porch and a powder room; a top floor with 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, easily convertible to three beds; a finished cellar with a powder room and laundry area; and a super sunny garden with hardscaping and planting beds. You really can have it all, with low annual taxes of just $364 per month and NO common charges. Enter up a stoop into a charming enclosed front porch, perfect for hanging out with a book and watching the trees and flowers come into full bloom on this quiet and picturesque block. It also doubles as a practical mudroom for seasonal clothing changes, strollers and dog accessories. The double parlor is an elegant combination of original period details that include a marble mantle, hardwood floors, and black steel mullioned windows, living in harmony with soaring ceiling heights, designer lighting, and central heating and cooling. Use the front parlor as a spacious living room, and the windowed back parlor for formal dining.

A very spacious and light-infused back extension with windows on two sides contains your designer chef's kitchen and is perfectly situated alongside the formal dining room. A glass door leads from the kitchen to the garden, making entertaining outdoors a breeze. And don't skip past the superior kitchen! Featuring a suite of Professional Appliances that include a Viking French Door fridge and a 6-burner Wolf range, perfect for the seasoned home chef! Gray shaker cabinetry offers ample storage solutions, in addition to a large walk-in pantry, Carrara marble herringbone backsplash, and elegant yet practical white quartz countertops. This kitchen is a true show stopper. A powder room on this floor is as charming as it is practical with its Carrara marble hex floors and subway-tiled walls.

Head upstairs to the bedroom floor which features extra high-ceilings and multiple skylights. Three bedrooms have been turned into two VERY sizable bedrooms. If you need a third bedroom, it is very easy to revert back to a center third bedroom. Or use as-is, and enjoy a primary suite with a garden view and a windowed bathroom that features a glass-enclosed walk-in shower and Carrara marble mosaic tiles. Two custom closets add an extra level of luxury and include built-in drawers, shelving and hanging space. The equally large bedroom in front also includes an oversized custom closet PLUS a windowed hallway bathroom that enjoys a tub, marble tiles and Carrara accents. A spacious linen closet is an added indulgence.

Head back downstairs to the fully finished cellar, complete with a tiled floor, powder room, and an unexpected full-sized vented LG washer and dryer. The current owners use this space for a very generous home office and play space. Storage is also abundant in a separate walled off area in the front. Meticulously maintained, you can be assured of a roof that is only two years old with a full warranty in place. The central heating and cooling system and hot water heater are also just a few years old. And when you are done inside, head into the glorious backyard where gorgeous trees and an Ipe fence provide just the perfect amount of privacy and greenery to assure a comfortable everyday existence that feels a million miles away from the sounds of the city.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
