Property Description for 238 East 30th Street, 2-E

Be a part of Manhattan history in this bright, carriage house studio within a well-maintained boutique Kips Bay co-op originally built in 1870. This is the perfect opportunity for an individual who is looking for a unique canvas filled with character to turn into their own personal haven. The studio is a well-sized open living space with a cozy nook and a large closet. Two windows are also featured that allow excellent light to pour in throughout the entire day. The kitchenette and bathroom need updating but are separate from the main studio granting the best usage of space and generate even more light with each of their own individual windows.

The building is formerly down the street from CBS 30th Street Studio where artists such as Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, and Pink Floyd created some of their most famous works as well as where Frank Sinatras New York, New York was recorded. Shareholders can relish in the sun and fresh air within two common outdoor spaces adjacent to their own slice of NYC music history!

Besides being centrally located in the middle of Manhattan and taking full advantage of nearby conveniences like easy subway and bus access, shops like Fairway, Target, and Trader Joes, catching the latest films at the AMC Movie Theatre, and enjoying loads of restaurants, shareholders can also benefit from a full-time live-in super, security cameras in the common spaces, basement bike storage, and a newly renovated laundry room.

For anyone looking for a fresh start and a wonderful real New York home, this studio is an absolute must see. In-person showings are easy, flexible, and available upon request. Reach out today to be accommodated as quickly as possible.

Kips Bay | Manhattan

Quick Profile

If you take a walk through Kips Bay, which is loosely defined as the area between 23rd street and 34th street and the East River to almost Lexington, you’ll quickly learn it's a hodgepodge of sorts and not as well defined as other neighborhoods in New York City. Some New Yorkers say Kips Bay has an identity crisis because 1st, 2nd, and 3rd avenues are distinctly different from one another as you traverse them. Despite the perceived lack of neighborhood vibe there are others that appreciate its affordability and convenience.

First Avenue is dominated by hospitals and hospital buildings such as NYU Medical Center and Bellevue Hospital to name a few. Second Avenue is a mosaic of convenience stores, fast food joints and nondescript brick buildings. Third Avenue is saturated with small bars and gastropubs and the twenty somethings that patronize them.

No judgement against Kips Bay here. It’s a great neighborhood that is just as much a part of New York City as any other neighborhood. Kips Bay It’s bordered by Murray Hill to the North, Stuyvesant Town and Gramercy Park to the South, and Rose Hill to the West. The neighborhood is partly defined by newer high-rise apartments, brick rowhouses, and former tenement buildings.
