Property Description for 46 White Street, 1

Expect the unexpected...This unique and expansive 6,000SF multi-level maisonette loft feels like a grand townhouse with unprecedented entertaining space, a sprawling 5-bedroom layout and chic minimalist design elements that captivate at every turn. Designed by WorkAC Architects in collaboration with the creative owners, this dramatic urban oasis offers a unique lifestyle that is guaranteed to impress! A private street-level entrance leads to an elegant living room with 16-foot ceilings, gallery-sized art walls and bright southern exposures through a wall of enormous storefront windows. Just beyond, a raised bamboo platform with wet bar sets the stage for what the owner calls "dinner theater" where hidden tables ascend from the floor, drop from the ceiling and connect together to accommodate dinner parties for up to 68 guests! The adjacent restaurant-quality kitchen with center-island is ideal for enjoying casual meals or staging large-scaled catered events. Completing the floor is a comfortable lounge wrapped in felt and a cozy media area ideal for hanging out with family and friends.

Beyond the entertaining level, a dramatic sculptural staircase separates public from private and leads to three distinct levels, each illuminated by glass walls and skylights. The upper level offers two large bedrooms, each with fitted wardrobes, sky-lit lounge areas and a shared bathroom with dual entrances, double sinks and a large sun-lit shower. The middle level is dedicated to the primary bedroom suite and offers a large separate office and a private decked terrace. There is a fabulous spa bathroom and a translucent bridge that leads to a massive "red carpet" walk-in closet and dressing room, a haute couture hideaway that will please the most discerning fashionista.

The fun continues on the lower level where you'll find a large playroom, separate staff quarters, an oversized guest suite and a temperature-controlled tequila tasting room. There is even a dog elevator for those stubborn pooches who refuse to take the stairs! Every inch of this stylish home is carefully curated around comfort, fun and practical living. Additional amenities include multi-zoned heating and cooling, a large separate laundry room, custom lighting on dimmers, incredible amounts of storage and a tasteful powder room for guests. More than just an apartment, this extraordinary property provides an interactive experience where life and architecture co-exist to create memories that will last forever!

Built in 1865 in the Second Empire style, the iconic Woods Mercantile Building is located on one of Tribeca's most tranquil blocks surrounded by historically significant architecture and alluring retail storefronts. The boutique 5-unit condominium is financially sound and responsibly managed and offers a key-locked elevator, video intercom security and a visiting superintendent. And of course there's the prime location, nestled in Tribeca's burgeoning gallery district with world class art galleries, vintage furniture showrooms and downtown's trendiest restaurants and cafes right at your doorstep. Don't miss this opportunity to live in an architectural masterpiece in downtown's most celebrated community. Truly one-of-a-kind!

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
