Property Description for 170 Second Ave, 5-C

This bright, spacious one-bedroom home is located at the corner of Eleventh Street at 170 Second Avenue, the East Village's preeminent full-service co-op building.

A formal entry foyer leads to a bright, open living room/kitchen, overflowing with light from two north-facing windows, which reveal Eleventh Street treetop views, and glimpses of the Empire State and ConEd Buildings. The open kitchen is equipped with a Blomberg dishwasher, Bertazzoni range, LG stainless steel fridge, and features a mosaic tile backsplash.

The king-sized bedroom boasts two deep closets and those tree top and skyline views. A windowed bathroom has prewar charm, including a pedestal Kohler sink, and the original cast-iron soaking tub.

This quintessential pre-war Art Deco home features many original details including antique doors and crystal doorknobs, whitewashed oak flooring, beamed 9' ceilings, and base and crown moldings. It has been tastefully updated with industrial light fixtures, upgraded electricity, and thru wall air conditioning.

170 Second Avenue is a majestic prewar jewel in the East Village with an extraordinary lobby featuring original terrazzo floors, brass chandeliers, Art Deco murals and a mahogany-paneled elevator. The lobby recently underwent a full restoration, and the building is impeccably maintained by a wonderful staff including 24 hour doorman, porters, and a live-in superintendent. Features include brand new elevators, central laundry, storage and bike rooms. It is located across the street from historic St. Mark’s Church, and is near fantastic restaurants, Union Square, Astor Place, Tompkins Square Park and plentiful public transportation.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
