Property Description for 85 Eighth Ave, 3-G

Huge, sunny studio in prime Chelsea overlooking West 15th Street with a balcony, separate home office room, and tons of closets. Available unfurnished or furnished.

Located perfectly where Chelsea meets the West Village and Meatpacking District, The Thomas Eddy has a 24-hour doorman, live-in superintendent, landscaped courtyard garden, bike room, storage, and on-site parking.

A rarely found layout, this unusually large studio, with its additional home office room and balcony, enjoys excellent light all day from this unusually tranquil, tree-lined block of West 15th Street adjacent to Google.

The main space of the home has enough room for a queen-size bedroom area, as well as a sizable entertaining area-currently with a nine-foot-long sofa. The kitchen features a gas stove and a moveable island with great under-counter storage and stools. There is also room for a dining table.

The home office room opens to the private balcony-an indoor/outdoor flow that complements working from home, in addition to entertaining. The lovely, tiled bathroom has a full-size tub and vanity.

The apartment has three very large, full-height closets: two nearly seven feet wide and the third almost six feet wide. A newer-model Friedrich through-the-wall air conditioning unit cools the apartment. Heat and hot water are included.

There are laundry rooms on every floor of the building, whose hallways were just redone.

The Thomas Eddy is a popular full-service co-operative with 24-hour doorman and live-in superintendent. The building has a large, landscaped courtyard garden, a bicycle room, storage units available, and an on-site parking garage.

At the nexus of Chelsea, the West Village, and the Meatpacking District, the building is surrounded by the neighborhoods" world-famous restaurants, shopping, and cultural institutions, as well as the High Line and Chelsea Market.

The 14th Street-Eighth Avenue subway station is on the corner, whose A/C/E and L lines can connect to everywhere in the city. The 14th Street stations of the 1/2/3 and F/M/PATH trains are one and two blocks away.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
