Property Description for 1008 Bushwick Ave

Welcome to 1008 Bushwick Avenue in the vibrant and eclectic neighborhood of Bushwick. This expansive four-story, two-family townhouse offers two generous duplexes and a private backyard of ~550 square feet. The home is currently configured as an owner’s duplex with three bedrooms on the lower two floors and an upper duplex with four bedrooms and an office or den. Enjoy the home as is or transform the space into a single family residence. A simple stoop leads to the entryway, where decorative metalwork and window boxes add a touch of charm. The foyer provides access to both duplexes via separate entrances. The first floor features a convenient secondary entrance through the front gate. A gracious living room with an ornate mantle flows into the rear kitchen, thoughtfully outfitted with stainless steel appliances and an in-unit washer and dryer. A discreet half bath sits just off the main living space, and direct backyard access allows for easy indoor-outdoor living. Upstairs on the parlor level are three well-proportioned bedrooms and a full bath. The upper duplex is equally spacious and filled with abundant natural light. Its main level features an open galley kitchen, a dedicated dining room, a full bathroom, and a flexible room ideal as an office or nursery. A spacious living room with decorative fireplaces and north-facing windows completes the floor. Upstairs, you'll find four well-proportioned bedrooms, ample closet space, and a full bath with charming pink tile and a bidet. A large skylight crowns the stairwell and hallway, casting soft light across the entire top floor. 1008 Bushwick is centrally located near the J and Z trains at Gates Ave, as well as the B52 and B48 buses to Downtown Brooklyn. Local favorites like Sunrise/Sunset, Santa Panza, and several coffee shops are just around the corner, along with the Linden-Bushwick Community Garden. A nearby farmers market and multiple supermarkets add to the everyday convenience. Note: The photos are virtually staged.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
