Property Description for 111 Harman Street

Welcome to 111 Harman St, a thoughtfully renovated two-family home in the heart of Bushwick. Originally built in 1931, this elegant, three-story residence offers 5 bedrooms, 4 full bathrooms, and a powder room – all outfitted with premium finishes and state-of-the-art technology. Enter the high-ceilinged, three-bedroom duplex through an inviting foyer with dual glass-paneled entry doors. Large east-facing front windows bathe the spacious parlour level in natural light. The open-concept living and dining areas, with wide plank hardwood floors and a convenient powder room, are perfect for entertaining. The chef’s kitchen overlooks the expansive back garden through a full glass rear wall. A waterfall quartz countertop surrounds the farmhouse sink in the central kitchen island. Custom cabinetry and Bosch appliances, including an integrated French-door refrigerator, integrated dishwasher, and a six-burner range with pot filler and wine refrigerator, make this a dream kitchen for culinary enthusiasts. Upstairs, the primary bedroom overlooks the back garden and offers ample storage with two full closets. The spa-like en-suite bathroom is perfect for a zen moment, with natural light pouring in through the skylight and boasting a large soaking tub, walk-in shower, and floating double vanity. A second skylit full bathroom serves the two additional bedrooms on this floor, along with the convenience of an in-unit washer and dryer. The garden-level two-bedroom, two-bath residence offers comfort and style with an open living and dining area equipped with a full kitchen and stainless steel appliances. An in-unit washer/dryer adds to the elevated living experience of this apartment, which can be used as a guest suite or as an income-generating rental unit. The curated details in this meticulous renovation, including a built-in sound system and zoned central air conditioning, all serve to create a feeling of luxury and modern refinement. This vibrant neighborhood offers many dining and drinking options, including Sunrise/Sunset Bar, Tabbouleh Cafe and the Bossa Nova Civic Club. Nearby public transportation options include the M and J trains, just a few blocks away.

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
