Property Description for 55 Liberty Street, 13-C

*Please note that the open house is BY APPOINTMENT only* *Seller to cover ONE YEAR of purchaser's maintenance costs* Comfort and luxury define this immaculate, completely gut-renovated apartment at the full-service Liberty Tower! The expansive DOUBLE corner gem enjoys abundant light pouring into every room from oversized windows on triple exposures (south, west, and north). This pristine apartment has undergone a true top-to-bottom gut renovation, completely modernizing it while retaining the charm of this historic, prewar building, and extending far beyond cosmetic updates. Every aspect of the unit has been meticulously rebuilt from the ground up—including brand-new electrical wiring, circuit breakers, and outlets. The plumbing system has been entirely replaced, featuring all-new pipes and fixtures. No detail was overlooked. Even better, the space has not been occupied since the renovation, so the apartment is completely turn-key and ready for it’s new owner! Welcoming you into the home is a proper entry foyer with a large coat closet. At left is a fabulous chef’s dream kitchen featuring gorgeous wood cabinetry, sleek white countertops, and stainless steel appliances. Adjoining the kitchen is the enormous entertaining space comprised of a designated dining room, flowing into the generous corner living room. Pocket doors lead to a lovely den/office which can also serve as sleeping quarters. A private hall accesses the huge corner primary bedroom ‘wing’ complete with a spacious windowed walk-in closet, and contemporary bath with dual sinks, marble floors, and a spa shower behind glass. The ambiance is further enriched by stunning wide-plank wood floors, chic recessed lighting, and upscale finishes throughout. Other highlights of this beautiful loft-like residence are a convenient guest powder room and in-unit washer-dryer. Built in 1909 and designed by Henry Ives Cobb, Liberty Tower is a handsome prewar landmark standing 33 stories in FiDi. Formerly headquarters for Sinclair Oil, the historic English Gothic-style building was impeccably restored and converted to a luxury cooperative by Joseph Pell Lombardi in 1980. Elevating the lifestyle is 24-hour doorman service, a live-in superintendent, porters, and a side valet entrance for easy deliveries. Monthly maintenance includes water, gas, and heat. Plus, pets are allowed. The location is exceptional, close to many of downtown’s best attractions like wonderful Hudson River Park, the vibrant South Street Seaport, Brookfield Place – a world-class retail, culinary and cultural center with a European market, waterfront dining and array of restaurants, Whole Foods, shops, and all modes of transportation. Please note some photos are virtually staged.

Financial District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Financial District (FiDi) today is a bit of a hybrid neighborhood, as the residential component continues to grow in an area that has been historically dominated by the financial and insurance industries. The residential experiment, which began more than two decades ago, continues to evolve in an area with a large concentration of older, large office buildings. Developers have taken to these aged buildings and have re-positioned them as residential properties. In turn, the public spaces, services and retail establishments needed for a thriving residential neighborhood have followed making this an important destination for city residents.

Since 2000, the residential population of the Financial District has nearly tripled in size from about 23,000 residents to more than 60,000 inhabitants. Many of the residential pioneers to FiDi were people attracted to the lower rents in the neighborhood, particularly the post-collegiate crowd. While the millennials still maintain a large footprint here, there are plenty of families that now consider the Wall Street area home.

Many of those that live in the Financial District walk to work. If you reside here and need to commute elsewhere, the transportation from here is about as good as it gets. Express trains can take you to Midtown, either east or west, in twenty minutes. Brooklyn is but a single subway stop away. There are also ferries across to Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
