Property Description for 205 Windsor Place

Craving space, light, and greenery without leaving New York City? This historic three-level single family brick townhouse in prime Windsor Terrace delivers it all—just two blocks south of Prospect Park. Built in 1907, this detailed Arts & Crafts gem marries original character with an airy, modern flow. Its rare set-back street perch sits on a legendary sycamore-lined block where homes with blooming front gardens almost never hit the market. A sunny enclosed front porch welcomes you year-round, with birdsong from the park as your soundtrack. Inside, the parlor floor wows with beamed ceilings, rich oak parquet floors, and a dramatic wood staircase crowned by original stained glass. Light pours through from front to back, connecting generous living and dining spaces. The windowed kitchen has a cheerful eat-in nook, butcher block counters, stainless appliances, and a proper pantry. The backyard feels worlds away—fenced in cedar, wrapped in tall trees, quiet and ideal for grilling, lounging, or hosting under the open Brooklyn sky. Upstairs, the primary bedroom spans the front with a sunny Juliet balcony, while two serene rear bedrooms overlook treetops. All bedrooms feature ample closets and whisper-quiet mini-split A/C for year-round comfort. A renovated skylit bath completes the level with a rainshower and timeless finishes. The finished English basement offers full ceiling height, an updated bath, abundant storage, and a full-size washer/dryer. The huge open space is flexible for whatever you imagine: a rec room, fitness center, luxe home theater, roller derby, you name it. It's also another ~958sf not included in the gross square footage! All this and imagine living just steps from the F train, Prospect Park West’s cafes and shops, and Olmstead’s jewel: Prospect Park itself! Homes on this special block rarely come to market—rarer still in turnkey condition. This is your chance to claim a piece of Windsor Terrace history.

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
