Property Description for 455 East 51st Street, 6-B

MAJESTIC RIVER VIEWS…

A WOOD-BURNING FIREPLACE...

A SECRET GARDEN...

ON A SECRET CUL-DE-SAC…

JUST BEYOND A SECRET GATE...

UPGRADED CLASSIC - SOULFUL 2BR

Supremely situated in the famously private and well served Beekman Terrace (a handsome 1924 building coveted for its discreet riverfront location on a quiet cul-de-sac), this direct river-view, East-facing, sun-splashed stunner is a fantastic find. Its heartwarming upgrades are smart, stylish, and timeless -- creating a home that is comfortable, bright, and beautiful.

With its signature river frontage from both the sizable living room and the dining area, this handsome, big-view residence is a dramatic stand out. The living room offers a wood-burning fireplace flanked by attractive built-ins. The window seat offers world-class, postcard perfect vistas of the East River and big sky views Eastward. The open-flow dining area also enjoys a sunshiny showcase of the river, and is right off of the attractive and practical kitchen (with stone counters, ample cabinets, and good appliances -- including a dishwasher).

The primary bedroom is peaceful and bright, with big windows and good closets. The secondary bedroom -- with its French doors featuring more of this home's signature river views -- is sweetly scaled. A natural guest room, den, or office, this bonus bedroom is well suited for all of life's evolving needs. The sizable windowed bath is classically appointed and offers a soaking tub (with shower).

A welcoming gallery hall, high ceilings, custom-milled built-ins, herringbone oak floors, and bonus storage spaces round out this mindfully designed, smartly executed classic home — making this well-scaled beauty a stand-out for all the best reasons.

Pristinely positioned on the top floor, along Beekman Terrace's treasured Eastern side, here is your coveted front row seat to the nautical beauty of the East River, with enviable, one-flight-up proximity to the building's cherished, river-view roof deck. Pet friendly, this resplendent residence offers private storage, and easy access to the building's fitness and laundry rooms. Within a stone's throw are the East River Promenade, the E/F/M trains, and prime convenience to every area cultural, dining, and shopping destination -- not to mention the benefits of a very smart neighborhood association and private security.

Here is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan: Your secret sunshiny, river-view stunner...by a secret garden...on a secret cul-de-sac...just beyond a secret gate...awaits.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
