Property Description for 114 West 29th Street, 4

What do an art collector, chef, and entertainer have in common? They'd all love to live here.

Welcome to Residence 4 at 114 W 29th Street, a nearly 1,600 sq ft true loft home at the nexus of some of Manhattan's most iconic downtown neighborhoods. Situated only three flights up, and occupying the entire top floor of a classic loft-style building circa 1912, this spectacular home is flexible, playful, and elegant all at the same time.

Currently configured as one large, open space, this home could easily be converted to incorporate one or two bedrooms, and an additional bath can be added with proper approvals. With windows on both ends and two large skylights, the space is bathed in natural light throughout the day. Capping off the interior space, there is a rarely used common terrace directly above.

Immediately upon entering, one is struck by the original, wide plank pine floors, 11'+ ceilings, and nearly 150 linear feet of reinforced wall space to show off a serious art collection. A Lutron Grafik Eye multi-zone system controls Sistemalux LED track lighting, Flos Pouchette wall sconces, and a Flos Taraxacum chandelier over the dining area, perfectly illuminating the space at all hours.

The Boffi-designed kitchen is a chef's dream, complete with Italian marble countertops, double sink with Insinkerator garbage disposal, and a top-of-the-line appliance package including a SubZero fridge/freezer, Alpes Inox gas cooktop with Bosch Downdraft pop-up vent, Gaggenau wall oven, GE Monogram wine fridge, and an integrated dishwasher. A large, recently upgraded washer/dryer is conveniently located in the kitchen closet.

Just off the kitchen is the vibrant spa-like bathroom, with custom blue penny tiles throughout, a whirlpool tub, Boffi sink, and a cleverly disguised on-demand water heater; all lit by a large, South-facing window. The home is heated and cooled by an upgraded split system, as well as access to the building's steam heat radiators, and there is an integrated Bang & Olufsen sound system to curate the perfect vibes at all times.

114-120 W 29th Street is a well-run co-op consisting of three adjacent buildings. Residents of all three buildings enjoy package security through the staffed entrance of 116, video intercoms w/ remote access, and a responsive superintendent. The co-op is pet friendly, allows 80% financing, and will consider gifting, parents buying for children, as well as Trust & LLC purchases, all with board approval.

The location is ideal, where Chelsea and NoMad converge. With transportation, dining, and entertainment options abounds, come see what life in the heart of Manhattan is all about.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
