Property Description for 49 West 12th Street, 8-A

Step into this rare, tree-lined, mid-block full-service alcove studio, easily convertible to a junior 1-bedroom coop-located on the gold coast of Greenwich Village on 12th Street between 5th and 6th avenues.

Perched on a high floor with northern exposure, this beautifully renovated home features a modern kitchen and bathroom.

Upon entering through the foyer, you're welcomed by a generous coat closet before stepping into the spacious dining area, highlighted by new hardwood floors and oversized windows with open northern city views. The flexible floor plan includes a queen-size, windowed alcove that can easily be walled off to create a true bedroom, complemented by three generous closets for ample storage.

Blending modern sophistication with historic charm, the home retains its original tin kitchen ceiling while offering every modern convenience including granite countertops, a gray subway tile backsplash, shaker white cabinetry, and stainless steel appliances.

The bathroom has also been renovated featuring classic basketweave stone flooring, sink with undercounter storage, and a deep ceramic soaking tub.

The Anderson House is a full-service cooperative offering 24-hour doorman service, a landscaped and furnished roof deck, storage cages, bicycle room, laundry facilities, live-in porter, and resident superintendent. Pets and pied-à-terre ownership are permitted with board approval. Subletting is allowed for up to two years during the life of ownership. The building requires a 25% down payment.

All of this in a prime Greenwich Village location-just moments from Union Square Farmers Market, Union Square Park (Evelyn's Playground), Washington Square Park, the Meatpacking District, and some of the city's best grocery options (Trader Joe's, Citarella, Whole Foods, and Westside Market). You'll also enjoy nearby fitness options like Equinox, fine dining, boutique shopping, and an abundance of subway and bus lines for effortless access across the city

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
